We are once more looking at ramp closures in the North Texas Area. It would help to compile a list of ramps that are now closed. This would help all anglers. Just add your closed ramp to the list. Start by lake name followed by ramp name.

1. Lake Lewisville, West Lake Park ramp.

That website is not reliable. It shows ramps at Ray Roberts closed due to high water. The lake is 5' below normal and all ramps are open.

The Corps listings are good and up to date for some lakes, but way out of date for others. If we're going to make a list, though, on many lakes it would be easier to list the ramps that are open rather than the ones that aren't.

It's given me an excuse to get my kayak out more this year.

Cedar Creek Lake-only ramp open is Log Cabin and its getting kind of iffy and if the lake continues to drop, doubt it will stay open much longer. I guess we'll have to revert to bank fishing or from a canoe.

Lake Palestine has 2 "Pay" ramps and 1 Free ramp still usable but all are getting pretty treacherous. The Free ramp at the dam has 1 usable lane for rigs under 18' or tandem axel trailers. The $3 ramp at the Lake Palestine Resort has 1 usable lane but it's prety steep, too much so for my liking. Lastly, the $5 ramp at The Villages Marina has a 3-lane ramp but for any craft over 18', only the very center of the ramp works very well and then there is the inlet into & out of the Marina bay. It barely has 18" of water in a fairly narrow channel and if you miss it you may have to get wet to get off the sand. Sorry about the rather dismal report but that's the way it is at Lake Palestine.
