Alot will depend on the kind of boat. (bass, bay, run-a-bout)and if you plan on a 24 or 36 volt system. If your going to run 36 volt, I would look at Motor Guide's 109 lbs thrust with the 50" shaft. If you are going with a 24 volt than I would look at Motor Guide's 80 lbs thrust with the 50" shaft.

I'd recommend a 36 volt motor. You'll be glad you have it when it's windy. Three of my boats we run 36v motors and my Lund I run 24 volts. There's times I wish I had 36v on the Lund.

Both Motor guides listed will work. Make sure you get the long shaft and I agree with Chuck, go with the 36 volt you will be glad you did.

A 24V will not be fast enough on a 24 foot bay boat. I have had 24 foot bays for many years. Add a battery and go with a 36V Riptide. Also, get a 6O inch shaft at least. I usually replace shafts myself and I use the whole 67 inches and cut none off. That way my motor stays underwater in whitecaps if needed.
