Just picked one up from Academy to pair with a rod they had on clearance. From all the reviews I could find it seems to be a decent reel. Just wanted to see if anyone else had any opinions on it! Thanks oh it was also on clearance for 39.99

I got one clearance about a year ago. It works great. I can cast it a mile. Can't go wrong for $40.

I've fished with the Aviso, which I assume is closest to it in the Quantum line up. They are a quality reel and I think you will be happy with it.

Yeah I figured for 40 bucks that the reward would be greater than the risk. I had an Aviso and didnt like it though but I think it was bad outta the box because the mag break never worked right.

Have fun with it. About a year ago, I got the Burst at Academy for $27 on closeout. A week later I got an Aviso for $22.

They both work great and I use them all the time. At those prices, I figure if they breakdown, who cares.

I love me some Academy closeout specials.

Exactly. Someone said, "You just have to know your limitations."

You get what you pay for. They have a plastic frame and sideplates and are not intended for heavy use. They are designed for the occasional weekend angler. They cast great and will perform very well for what you pay for them.
