I heard Vances Camp was shut down. Is this a true thing or folks trying to keep people out of a great hole?

Most definitely. Its been locked up for what I think is 2 yrs. I pass the entrance on my way to work hoping to see the day when the locks will be off the front gate. That hasn't stopped some from parking their cars and trucks on the side of the road and fishing under the bridge or hauling their small bass busters between the bridges. I've seen a few tied up to a fallen tree from the road as I drive by some days. It is a great fishing spot. The day the gate comes unlocked I'll be one of the first to post it.... after I fish it of course.

And if you do decide to park and fish, beware of the " no parking signs" I've seen tar rant county sheriffs messing with people there, and the south west corner of the bridge has "no trespassing Ft. Worth nature reserve" signs up.... Hard to find a place to park without getting into trouble....I ran w/ a buddy up the creek a few years ago after sandies, he has a jet/outboard and we passed at least 3 boats fixing sheer pins...with the water low I'd be super careful and troll, but it is a LONG slow trip....

are you talking about the bridge on 10 mile? i went down there last year and parked on the side and drug my kayak between the two bridges and launched. A sheriff even drove by as I was going down and he kept going. Hopefully we are talking about different places. that would suck if you could not park there anymore.

Same place.....I have passed several times and seen people fishing and noone bothering them, but I have seen sheriffs there as well on other occasions....even still the fishing is worth the ticket:-)

Not in my opinion, a bunch of low-life's started going down there and trashing the place, dumping trash, glass everywhere....it was a pretty terrible place at closing time....
