Well as the title suggests I caught a catfish lol.
I promise I won't make a new post everytime I catch a fish but this was the first I actually landed in quite some time.

I was bank fishing at pond creek, didn't feel like taking the boat out on a worknight.
I had my stinkbait if needed, but was hopeful to net some shad.

After a few of these guys it wasn't looking good.
Yes he was promptly returned to the water smile

Fortunately luck would grant me a couple to cut up so no playing with stinkbait.

I waited and waited for a bite, moving up and down the north side of the boat ramps.
Fortunately it was beautiful outside tonight.

An hour later it was pitch black and I was ready to pack it in when my 6' rod tip took a nosedive.

The photos are pretty good considering I was holding my mag light in one hand, my phone in the other while somehow pressing the touchscreen to take the picture below lol.

I caught this one on my santee rig, which was seeing more bites after I released him as well.
I didn't get anything out of my 3 way on the other pole.
One down and many more to go!!

Here's a suggestion for your 3-way rig, put you a slip float on your weight line, it will drop down to the weight for casting, and when it hits the water it will come up to the bottom of your swivel and keep your bait off the bottom, don't fish it real tight!!!

Good Luck to Ya!!!

Like Larry said put you slip float on the 3 way on the 36 inch weight leader and maybe put your santee rig float about 3 or 4 inches from hook

+1, and on the 3-way, don't peg the slip cork. Let it slide up and down the weight leader. Great job bud!

I use about 12 - 15" leader for my hook and about 36-40" leader for my weight, what you have should work, but the other rig will be a lot easier to cast, also I use a barrel swivel and not a 3-way, I tie my weight line and my main line to one hole on the swivel and my hook leader to the other end, I have had bad luck with 3-way swivels twisting and weakening my leader, and lost a good fish on the 3-way so I started using the barrel swivel!!!
It's not a good picture, but maybe you can get the idea

I havn't been over to Pond Creek in a while, it sure looks low, you should be able to catch something off the point that is in your 3rd pic, take that big shad and make 3 baits out of it, and put it on an 8'0 circle hook, be sure to leave pleanty of the hook exposed,

Good Luck to Ya!!!

your leaders look too long unless u were fishing deep water.....18" to 24" leaders usually good

what u showed in pic bait good be 4-5 foot off the bottom and probally want it 1- 2 foot off bottom........
