Which one? Ha!
2011 Trident 13 Angler $700 no tax
2009 Manta Ray 11 $600 no tax
2007 WS T120 $450 no tax
Hummingbird 170 that moves between boats. $99 = tax
Seat from Academy $69 + tax
Co2 PFD $50 no tax
Kayak cart $49 + tax
Bending Branches Carbon Fiber paddle $100 no tax
By buying used, I've picked up a lot of "stuff" in the deals. Anchors, paddles, PFD's, seats, stands, leashes, UV cover, etc.

Not listing fishing gear I previously had, just stuff for the yak.
Jackson Coosa: $999 Bending Branches Infusion 240cm paddle: 100 Crate and holders: $20 Battery, charger, housing, wiring: $80 Transducer kit: $35 Ram mount for FF: $40 Drag chain setup: $25 Yakima Towers and Bars: $290 Yakima Even Keel saddles: $90 360^ light: $15 Misc (ropes, lanyard supplies, ect) : $50 Roll of outdoor carpet: $17
Total: $1761
Would have been more but I stole a Humminbird 570 from my father after a tree fell on his BassTracker. It's the cheap version with none of the cool features like GPS or side scan. But hey, it finds fish and structure and bottom contour so I'm cool with that!
The carpet is there because I covered some free/used 2"x6"x10' boards and installed them under a deck to use as boat storage. Works really well.

Used Native Ultimate 14.5 Propel, already had most accessories - $1400 Easy Cruz lower pitch prop upgrade - $120 (I'm a cyclist and like pedaling a faster cadence than the original prop setup gave me) 2 Scotty rod holders - $35 12V battery and box - $25 Depth finder is also used on my big boat, and I had an extra transducer. It's a great crappie setup. It was expensive up front, but with no trailer needed, and no registration since it's still human power, it will be cheap to own and fish out of when I'm retired and poor. I posted about yesterday's trip in it here.

That sums it perfectly. I've been kayak fishing for almost a decade and the best thing I can take-away are all the friends I've made. It's been more than a worthwhile investment.

This is pretty much how I feel too. I sold most all of my deer hunting stuff and bought a kayak. To get a decent deer lease around where I live you going to have to dish out $1500-$2500. After that you start adding up camo, tree stands, corn, calls, cameras, etc.... The total amount a year spent is staggering. And you have to spend it again each year. With kayak fishing I was able to buy a kayak and equipment and have something I can use years ahead. To other Kayakers they too understand the awesome feeling of being out in a kayak fishing. The joy from fishing that i get, and the time spent with my friends while doing it is indeed priceless!!

Yak - 650
PFD - 90 (really need a new one)
Paddle - 85 (not gonna mention the two I've broken)
FF - 190
Estimated Rigging and Accessories - 150-200
So that makes around 1200...
Course then there's the two combos I've lost...
It should also be mentioned that amount spent on lures, tackle, gas etc. went up by a factor of about ten compared to the pre-yak days...
Been worth it though... And still tens of thousands less than a stinkpot!

Hobie Pro Angler HB 997 side imager home made "custom" tailer 1/2 acre of lights (give or take) way too many cameras for an ugly dude
Adding it all up could cause a heart attack, so I'll just guess it is worth every penny I spend,,, at least to me and my cardiologist.
Most of my 50+ paddling/fishing years have included a single small pirogue, batteau or canoe and just a single light rod for most all purposes. I guess I seldom had $200 in my arsenol with me at any one time and I don't seem to remember anything ever but smiles when I thnink of my simpler days fishing.

All I'm going to say is I have a slick coosa, setup pretty simple and got a big ladder rack on my truck to keep it on.
Spent almost half as much on the kayak as I did on my bass boat.

2011 native ultimate, 2007 malibu xfactor, 2002 WS ride, a 9' cheapo boat, a canoe, and more equipment than will fit in my kayak trailer. I would wager $9-11k. If you throw in fishing stuff in the past 10 years, that is another $2-3k.
If we throw in cameras, hiking and camping stuff, It gets really bad.
