so i went to lay the next row and the board wasn't flushing up at all. i'd hit one side, then the other would pop out, i hit the other side and then the other would pop out - kinda like a see-saw at the play ground. the joint was sticking out by like a super tiny bit, but just enough to make a snowball effect for the rest of the flooring if i had continued. how can i fix this? do i sand it down smooth and straight until the board fits? it's a dark floor too so i don't want to be chiseling any wood away.

floor is floating, i'm using tongue and groove glue.

any ideas?

i'm not sure what you mean hoppy, this is a row like right in the middle of the living room. it was the last row i laid down on tuesday night, so then yesterday evening i started up again and realized i made a boo-boo and no boards will lay level because that joint is barely sticking out.

yes, it's been glued and it sat over night because it was the last row i laid.

first thing to try is take a piece of flooring that has been cut off (scrap) and screw a 2x4 block to it GOOD. put the block so that it is on the lip side and offset about 1/2". put the tongue in the groove and hit it a few times (whack it good) to see if you can break the glue free. this works about 50% of the time. if you can use a piece that is long enough to stand on while you hit it.
you will never sand it down to fit without some wood filler and gaps, been there done that and it won't match up in color.
try the block and beat method and if it won't work pm me.

lol let me know if it works, I have installed a lot of floating floors both lam and solid, this happens.
watch for the block trying to go up when you beat it, thats why the stand on suggestion. the block may split too so have some replacements handy.

Are you useing tention straps to hold the boards tight that you have glued?

If not the glue will work like hydrolic fluid and force the boards apart leaving a slight gap between the boards.

Yeah, after this board issue i started taking blue painters tape and taping all the boards (about 4 rows) to keep them from pushing out. it worked well. the one problem board i was able to make it work. the floors are done and they look dang good. i haven't taken any pictures yet, i'm going to get the trim work done first.

not quite, that SOB wouldn't budge for nothing with that glue. i can't quite explain how it worked, but i realized that when i used a medium piece the gap didn't seem so bad, so i just glued that sucker down and taped it from moving. then with lots of skill, precision, and beer, i slowly closed the gap with each board and each row. it only took about 3 rows for it to correct itself but those three rows took about 3 hours to make perfect. it actaully turned out so well that you can see where i f'ed it up from trying to "shave" it down. if i would've just left it alone, it would've been fine, but what's done is done.

I did not know they still made type thay U glued the tongues $ Groove

it was from Lumber Liquidators - Virginia Mills engineered hand scraped stuff. they offered it in a click-lock or a tongue and groove version. since i was floating the floor and the click lock was going to take 6-8 weeks to get, i chose the tongue and groove and glued the joints together.
