Mariner Sails is hosting the NuCanoe NuFrontier Tour on Tuesday, November 15th at White Rock Lake in Dallas. The Dallas stop is part of a 3 month, 33 state, 10,000 mile whirlwind tour to introduce the new and very improved NuCanoe. The event starts at 4:30 and will end somewhere after 6:00. More details to come or you can call Mike at the store at 972/241-1498.

This past Spring we had a demo NuCanoe loaned to us for several months of testing and customer sampling. Overall (over several months) everyone who tested it liked everything about it except for its feeling of initial tippiness. I have no doubt that the secondary stability would have kicked in but that initial feel just wasn't good. We decided to give the manufacturer another season to make what were needed modifications to remedy the issue. This new Frontier has had a hull modification to add initial stability without sacrificing any of the yak's other qualities.

Personally, I have not tested the new Frontier but I was amazed and impressed with the original 12' NuCanoe. I've never experienced paddling a 12' long, 41" wide boat, 600# capacity boat that tracked so well while using a 270cm paddle.

FYI: here is a link to NuCanoe's Frontier page. They also have a ton of accessories, including a full duck blind.

I hope that you and other TFFers can make it out for a test paddle. You will be very impressed.

I'm kinda torn between that and the Cuda. Hope I can get a chance to try them both.

The NuCanoe G2G is still scheduled for this afternoon at WRL from 4:30 - 6.

We will be on a small beach area on the East side of the lake, just below the Big Thicket Building. You will have to enter from Mockingbird Lane. Link to our website www.mariner-sails.com for a map link.

Everyone who attended the NuCanoe Frontier Tour event was totally impressed with the new Frontier. I personally noticed that the initial stability issue was completely resolved without sacrificing performance. Still hard to believe that a 12' X 41" wide kayak paddled with a 270cm paddle will track so well.

I am having "technical difficulties" trying to post photos to this forum but I do have one photo of me standing in the Frontier posted on our Mariner Facebook page. I had no feeling of tippiness and believe me, I am usually a bit wobbly when initially standing up in a kayak or on a SUP.

The two models at the event were prototypes and the actual final models are scheduled to be ready in January. These kayaks look like real winenrs. We are planning to stock the Frontiers as soon as they are available. Pricing wise, it looks as if they will be right there with the Cudas.

Below is a link to NuCanoes' Frontier 12 Tour blog. It is an interesting blog following Blake and Deanna on their 33 state tour. Their current entry chroniocles their visit to Dallas. Our new Frontiers will be arriving in January.

Z,

As far as overall speed, my "personal" guess is that they are somewhere in the middle range of speed coupled with amazing tracking. Not near as fast as the new Ride 135's (ask Robbie & Neumie), but, considerably faster than many other models. It more than exceed what you would expect for a 12' X 41" craft.

Our Frontier 12's are scheduled to arrive around February 1st. We have ordered all four available colors plus a demo with which to tease you!
