Well we been skunked twice now at JPool, so we thought about going up to Grapevine. Any helpful tips on where to launch and which direction to head for on some crappie? Advice appreciated.

Katies Woods boat ramp is the only one I know of where two people can launch without having to get wet and you can still pick partner up at the dock.
When I go thursday I will be fishing from the island and west off sandstone rocky points over structure 10' to 20' water.
Will use jigs but aint going without some minnows cause that is what they have wanted most of late. Pick off three or four with jigs then it has taken minnows at each stop.

There are plenty of people that fish GV for Crappie but it's a tough lake to fish and those that do know how to fish it rarely spill the beans. GV has some Hogs in it if you know where to get 'em. I still do not. LOL!

The 'Vine is my home lake, or closest to me, so I'm learning to fish it. There is no structure like a bridge, so most people fish brush piles or the few boat houses on the lake. I haven't done well out on the lake, but have done okay in a slip I have access to. The fish have been very small this summer, or at least where I was fishing they were, but they're getting bigger. I like the first ramp at Oak Groove Park, just before Scott's landing. It's pretty shallow right now, but I think it is still usable. Stay close to the pier as you idle out, there are a few shallow points.
I've also been learning to fish for sandies. They are by no means easy, but I have been learning to read the Navionics on my phone and it helps.

I was still able to launch at Katies Woods no problem yesterday.
Fished five stops pick up three or four fish and had to move on using blk/chart and minnows. Five keepers and it was very cold early cutting across the lake and missed having gloves. Had to thaw out before I could fish the first stop.11'-20' structure.

Our average day on the Vine lately has been 30-40 fish, with 25 fish limits of some really nice fish. As said above, the Vine is a really tough lake until you learn it. I've been 'learning it' for 18 years now, and I'm about 50% there.
