Her is the situation!

if you break up a lake into 3 sections upper, middle, and lower
you've pre fished the upper and middle sections but never got to the lower. In the upper and middle sections you've cough numbers but not the size you need to take a check home. So on tournament day what would YOU do?

I think you fish the area you know. If fish are holding there, there has to be some bigguns in there.

We have tournaments too. and winning stringers in blue cat tournaments get to be 100# pretty regularly...

Keep going and don't look back. If you are not happy with your results on the upper and middle; then just fish the lower on tournament day.

Fish the lower where all the stumps are.

Its a gamble. I would fish where I know they're holding and try to get a big hit in those areas.

would you up size or just weed through the small ones?

Fish the areas you know there are fish holding at. But upsize your presentation ie: bigger jig, bigger spinnerbait, bigger worm, etc. If you are looking for a kicker don't abandon it, just upsize...my 2 cents.

If there are alot of Smaller fish in an area then the Bigger Fish are there too. I will usually move out to the next break.
