My son and I fished the LMF friday to monday; lots of folks fishing;however the fishing was okay. We caught a good number of trout; and some nice 14+ inch fish; mostly browns on spillway and rainbow below the cold hole. We fished little bead head marabou streamers mostly because we're not very good trout fishermen. The fish seemed not to care as long as it was olive in color and down in the water column.(and on very fine tippet. They would turn away from tippet 4x and larger) We had more success with a bit of lead pinched on 12" above the fly so as to get it closer to the bottom. I caught 16 monday morning(my best) as there was few fishermen to compete for the good holes; mostly we caught 4-8 fish in the morning and about the same in the afternoons. We did not fish below the park dam because we were told we couldn't wade that area from the park dam to the rerig because of the recent pilgrim drownings. I dont see how you can fish that area without wading. Beautiful weather; did not feel the earthquakes in the area-p-

Pearow,
Thanks for the update. It's high time I got up there & did some serious fishing. I love it at Beavers Bend this time of year.
Guess I had not heard about drownings, either. My favorite spot to fish is right below the OPD. I hope they don't keep that restriction for long.

I was up there this past weekend also. Are you referring to zone II that is off limits? I fished there Sat. AM. No luck mind you. What drownings? Hadn't heard of any.
I was with a couple of friends. The one guy was fly fishing like me. I caught just 2 all day, he caught one. I'm not a champion FF but I always thought I was at least average. Not that day. Another guy we were with was spin casting, and he must have caught 3 dozen, all on a Panther Martin gold spinner. I must have re-rigged 50 times, fishing high, low and everywhere between.

I caught probably 12-16 a day; didn't really keep an accurate count but 90% was caught on a marabou(olive color) beadhead streamer size 16 and 18 with a small split shot about 12 inches above the fly, using 5 and 6x tippet, swinging the fly across the stream downstream. Caught a few on a small size 18 jassid, which is a dry fly; they would hit it really good but I missed a lot of strikes because i couldn't see the fly in the water it was so small(old bad eyes) My best day catching was monday. I only fished that morning and caught 16, all on the little streamer-p-
