Now that we have the time change I want to start try fishing for whites and hybrids at night time. Is this a good time of year to try? I have never fished for them at night time.

I am going to try Lake Decker. I figured the bait of choice would be live shad and take some minnows as back up. I have a couple of submergible green lights. There is not much structure in the lake. Although I graphed a good size submerged tree in about 30ft of water this weekend. I am afraid that this area would be to deep. Would this be a good spot to try?

What I remember from years past fishing in the slip is: 110 watt in a clamp light, it would attract bugs, bugs fall in water, minnows eat the bugs, whites were attracted to the minnows etc. A coleman lantern works great also.

We typically do well around dock lights fishing for whites and hybrids in mid to late summer. Live bait and rattle traps both seem to work good at night. Ive never fished for hybrids at night this time of year. We didnt do much of this type of fishing this year because the docks didnt have any water under them.

For years at cedar creek, we have gone out on a pontoon during the summer months. Drop about 4 lights in about 20 to 25 ft of water off a point and before long bam! The sandies show up. We have always just used minnows, they work great. Every now and then ya get a couple good crappie and hybrids.

Hope this helps. We have never done it during the fall months, but I'm sure it will work.

There still gonna be in deeper water this time of year and the lights will bring them in. Live shad work great but sometimes hard to find this time of year. Hang tight for at least an hour and if nothing show move out. Try slabing if your bored too.

Thanks for the help. I will let everyone know how I do. I might try tonight depending on when this cold front comes in. Next window for me will not be till friday night.

Should I locate shad and use my lights around that area or find a good point?

The docks we normally fish at Cedar Creek haven't had any water under them! Hope this rain helps.

I used to night fish Decker for bass in winter when the power plant ran consistantly. We fished up shallow flipping the reeds. Always open back then at night unless something has changed. Look into the LED green lights. Really attract the fish. Expensive but lots of fish attracting light with very little amp usage.

We tried Decker Friday night. End result was 1 white. Still need to spend more time on the lake. Shad was scattered and hard to find once the sun went down.
