My boyfriend has recently started fishing on his Kayak and has caught a few fish. He has told me about some fishing lights for kayaks that will help him catch more. I'm thinking of getting some for him for CHristmas. Any suggestions? Have any of you heard of WildCat Lighting?

Wildcat is the only fishing light kit that I know of. I have no experience with it either.

I use another style light. The kind you can drop down in the water. I like them and they do work good when used at the right time and place. Hang around and somebody might chime in on that brand. The post I read was here earlier this summer. I've tried searching but no luck.

Bob Glenn sells some nice led lights in the classified forum on this site. They are bright, don't tear the batteries up and will slip through the suppers on the yak putting al of hetlight in the water.

The strip lights lose some light in air and attract some bugs regardless of color but add a LOT of visibility at night to other boaters.

well i really couldn't see anything about the lights. So do you have anymore videos? possibly at night? Were they expensive to buy? and did you install them yourself or did WildCat Lighting do them?

You can go to Youtube and find several videos. Key words - kayak & lights.

Here a link to a kayak with the Wildcat lights. They are not cheap but from everything I've read, they seem to be the best. Once I can save enough money, these might be what I install.

Here is another link for a place you can buy several types of various LED lights. If I do not get the Wildcat lights, I will most likely build something using these lights.

Please let us know what you go with and how well they work.

And as mentioned be for... You're Awesome. Your boyfriend is a lucky guy.

Bobs lights are the type you submerge under water. They are the best for fishing, but don't have the "cool factor" of the stick on strips.

Depending on where you are located, you can actually buy decent lights from many wholesalers direct.

Shoot me a pm if you will.

@ custom30 The second set of LED lights look like individuals, where the WildCat ones are on a strip. I'm thinking the WildCat ones are going to be better.
@ Wahoo Bob thanks i'll check them out

I've done two different things before. I've bought cheapo LEDs and sealed them and mounted them and I've built my own from the ground up to insure the right frequency and brightness. The ones I built worked way better than the cheapos (which were some car leds that I bought from harbor frieght.)
I would recommend going thru a company like wild cat lighting because your end result is going to be exactly what you want it to be which is a massive fish attractant as opposed to just some cool looking leds on a kayak.

When I figure out this whole kayak rigging/accesories shop I want to open, I think I'm going to see about becoming a wild cat dealer. I'd like to go to their in house training.

if you live in the dallas area, call gart at 214-549-3970. he is a local distributer and has a bass boat with the lights installed. he came out to grapevine on friday night to demo the lights on the water for me. i really liked them, and will be purchasing a set from him this coming week.

Man I wish my wife would do independent research on fishing accessories she wanted to get me... You rock!

Lights work very well, and those wildcat ones look like the real deal... Just make sure you get him an industrial sized barrel of insect repellent to go with it...

Bob Here
There is no such thing as a perfect light, as there are many
variables such as, price, size, light output, above below the water, amp draw, etc.

Like to think that Reel-lites comes close.
