I recently moved to victoria and have been blindly hunting for fish now for months with nearly no success. I have a kayake and a generator with lights for bank or jetty fishing. I love to fish and this is really killing me not being able to find them. I have tried Indianola (the water was very low when i went), a few spots in seadrift and under a few bridges (with lights) in the seadrift area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ROLLOVER PASS (BOLIVAR PENISULA).
You can fish on the banc or with kayak. Fishing in the night with light you can catch speckled trout, flounder, red fish ,sand trout, croacker etc.

Kayaker... I totatlly get it man. That's how i felt some 16yrs ago starting to fish salt from years of fishing freshwater. Was already pretty good at freshwater... salts a little different.

Your best bet for numbers and size of speckled trout are going to be in the West Matty system. In speckled trout fishing / saltwater you really need to key on something that tells you there are predators like speckled trout and redfish there... otherwise you are just frothing the water with your lure and that's all.

Look for visual sign, birds, slicks, active bait, and make sure those signs are over structure... shell, mud/shell, a dropoff, grass edge, sand pocket, deep sand pocket... etc. That will hone you in on where the speckled trout and redfish are.

If you're looking to speed up your learning curve with finding speckled trout check out the TroutSupport.com DVD's . You can figure out the above stuff on your own but watching the Speckled Trout Intensive Training DVD's will give you years of knowledge and be something that you'll watch over and over. I promise, and i back it up with a 110% money back guarantee.

also check out the testimonials there, the personal best page, and articles..

I'd jump off at Goff Bayou off 35 right now if it were me,(depending on Red Tides)I heard Mission was full of dead fish or the barge canal at 35 and fish out - as dry as its been this year its salty way up the basin - should be lots of Specks/Reds and some mongo flatties right now

The paths less traveled around Port Lavaca to Seadrift would favor yak fishin - even on very windy days

The spoil banks along the barge channel in Guadalupe bay -

Powderhorn would be better than Boggy right now - pretty soon the deepest holes like Army hole will be good - long way with a yak though

They is where ya finds em !!!

New Penny gulps on a jig head and under a cork in the back bays !!!

Watch the tides and catch an outgoing tide at the mouth of Powderhorn. later at night is best.

Welcome to Victoria. Drop me a line and I would be happy to take you some time if we can work it out. There are lots of trout being caught at nite on the outgoing tide at Indianola Marina on the pass out of the Powderhorn. The shrimp are migrating out so if you can hit an outgoing at nite you will catch trout there on platics. I have a friend who did it last nite and talked with another who limited a few nites ago. Good Luck and Tight Lines! Here are a few things that may help you.
