Got off work early today so millman met me at the launch and we took off. Didn't start till about 3:30 and quit at 5:30 but it was a good 2 hours. Caught 10 fish with no dinks. We were sure wishin for today's bag back in July at the CAT Tourney. the 7 whites went just over 15# Scale shows 15#7oz but my weigh bag is a little heavy. Big, thick fatties!
Tha catch

15" on the tape

The bag on the scale

and the weight

Something came up so I can't go tomorrow but I sure wanted to. Blue/Chartreuse Slab Bandit was the choice, in 18FOW, 12' down.

Had a blast Padna!
You sure know how to make a couple of hours pay off.
I might sneak over there tomorrow after it warms a bit and see if we missed any.

I'm a bass fisherman who has never fished for crappie, but I'm about to learn how. I was told to tie on a crappie jig and use a bobber above it about a foot and pitch to spots. Any advice as to how to do it would be appreciated.

Personally, I'll use a slip float in set at a foot to 18" in the Spring but the rest of the year I prefer vertical jigging bridge columns, timber, brush piles & other structure, and all these at various depths. Tie on a black & chartreuse jig and try bridge fishing. Ask around your local lake. Crappie fishermen are usually pretty helpful. Good luck as you transition to the Dark Side! freak

Yeah Ken, millman & I thought about that yesterday. Sept. is often pretty tough as the fish are usually in transition but the big girls are there and like us (me anyway! HA!) they eat every day, all you have to do is find them.

GO WACKY

As a former tournament Bass fisherman I thought I would pick up Crappie fishing in a flash and kick butt. HO Ho Ho. clap

There was a lot more to it than I ever imagined. Sure anyone can drown a minnow under a bridge or around timber and catch a few but to consistantly do it under all conditions all year long is another matter.

Fortunately for you there are some great fishermen in your area and if you ask, someone will take you out and get you started in the right direction.

Best option would be a guide but if that's not in the budget then ask for help. Watch video's and the forum for more help.

Good luck, if you want a copy of my video I will offer money back guarantee if you don't like it. (You will)

There's 1 lane open at the Lake Palestine Resort (Campground) but it's too steep for my liking and I hear folks are still launching at then Deep End (the dam). That's about it.
