Thinking about hitting the golf course or community lake near the house for some blue's just after dark. Wind is gonna be blowing and the temp really dropping off after dark. Last time it was like this we caught 19 in about 3 hours all between 3-7lbs

If I had the chance I would go. But, work and a trip to Bass Pro is keeping me off the h2o today.

They are calling for 25mph sustained winds this evening, could be tough fishing if you are in the open. Good luck if you decide to get out!

Went this afternoon, got bait, threw the drift socks out and before we could get a bait in the water the wind shifted and blew us off the lake!!!!

Nice fish!!! My wife and I went this morning and caught a dozen channel cats. Most were 2 - 3 pounds with my wife catching the largest at about 18 pounds. It was fun right up till time to leave, the big dude pushed the bottom door out of the fish basket and we lost all but the two smallest fish. Bummer of an ending.

Nice! You did much better than me. Went yesterday to the river and only caught a 1 lb flathead.

I'm sure we can get you on something bigger then that, especially if you're in the Irving area. I might try the Haggar building (635/Luna)later this week if I'm not getting killed at work, there are plenty over 10lbs in that area. Nice fish!

Went out to this pond again last night, it was cold and not too many bites after 8pm but within the first 20minutes around 7pm had something pickup my bait just after I walked away to go cast netting. Ran full speed back to my rig which thankfully got snagged on my tacklebox and was screaming out drag, set the hook and felt the weight of a BIG fish. Had it on there for about 15seconds before it snapped my line...I fish Berkley Vanish 20lb.
My drag is set lose enough to avoid line breaks for sure and it was a fresh tie on before I casted out last night so I know it wasn't line fatigue or nicks. Whatever it was...it was BEAST. My buddy had a similar incident up there on Sunday afternoon in the same general area of the pond...bobber yanked under, he set, and it broke off immediately. He also was on 20lb test. It makes me wonder if maybe that 60lb Blue wasn't the biggest fish in the pond because that was landed on 12lb test and my 40lb was landed easily on 20lb test a few days ago...and whatever this is...it's beastly enough to brake 20lb.
I'm bringing out the big guns next time, the dedicated catfish pole with 30lb mono or 50lb braid and targeting this fish until I catch it.

maybe it it is not the size of the fish that is breaking you off. maybe whatever got your tackle is big AND TOOTHY. What kinda leader are you using?

There isn't anything in that pond to my knowledge that is toothy. I've never seen any gar or bowfin there. I know it was big and I know it was a fish because there was some fish slime on my line when I reeled it up, it peeled line off way to fast to be any turtle, and my heavy action rod doesn't bend like that if it's little.
