Wow, brother! Flounder, flounder, flounder and trout. Head out to Academy. Pick up Gulp - Curly Tails. Look for bright pink, bright green, and root beer. Take you a line of string about two foot long, tie a 1/8 jig on one end, come up about a 1/4 of the way, tie a little loop, then come down to the other end and tie another 1/8 jig on. Tie the loop to your fishing line. Attach a pink curly tail on one jig, green or root beer on the other. Head out to Seawolf Park. Park about an 1/8th of a mile from the entrance to the park, in the area not marked "No Parking." Head out to the water on the channel side, wade - Tear it up. You can only catch two flounder a person during the month of November. GOOD LUCK!

Best time of year for big ol trophy sized trout. Read Murray's book "World Class Texas Trout---" (www.topwaterpublishing.com"). Most if not all the monsters shown there are winter caught. And you can catch a world class bad cold also. We won't discuss how I know.

There are no fish in the bay/surf during the fall/winter. They all leave and head for Mexico.
You won't catch me there 2 or 3 times per month (throwing TTF Flats Minnow in Roach on a 1/8" screw lock jig head) from now until Feb.
I would much rather fish in the summer with everyone else.

Seriously, Fishontx the fishing can be outstanding depending when you are there. If you catch a major front passing through well, you best just go back home. Stay away from a north wind it just makes things difficult. Winter time in the surf you can find some super sized Pompanos (Texas Permits) they grow up to about a pound to pound and half and show up in winter. Sheepheads the big ones and outstanding Flat fishes are all available. Now unlike most folks my big trout have always came out of the hot months but 98% of the other fisherman catch all the big sow trouts Feb/March.
Just stay away from the strong cold fronts.

Pomps are fun and good eating. You can catch them from Galveston to CC. Key is to find the clear, flat, calm days after a norther has blown through. Clear water is the key. They actually call these kinds of events a 'pomp window'. You can catch them from the pier or surf. Double dropper rig with live shrimp or peeled fresh shrimp and small strips of Fishbites on small circle hooks.
If fishing from the pier, you can use a casting float and a 3-5 ft leader with a split shot at the bottom and live shrimp. Use fluorocarbon leader if possible. Pop and retrieve as that will draw their attention as they are sight feeders.
You can catch them all year but in winter, you get the bigger ones.

Wading a shallow bay will always be more productive than standing on the bank...If you can stand in a spot and catch fish, so can a zillion other potlickers, pickings get pretty thin.

In my opinion Fishing in the winter is one of the most challenging experiences you will ever have on a lake.

while we fishing in the winter will be very cold. We need to take the proper equipment. It is the bad thing to fish in the winter season because the fish will caught very less at that time.

Winter fish typically reposition themselves when the temps drop. Overcast cold days put them in deeper reefs and cuts, sunny days put them on shallow MUD flats. That nice firm sand you were wading last summer won't hold much now. And wading poot mud in waders is quite a challenge.
But..we catch a lot of fish in winter, and average trout is much heavier.
