Although I know there is a previous thread about cypress creek, I have questions. Im new to the forums so hello to all!!

1. whats the best time to fish cypress creek or spring creek? i am located inbetween both and the weather is starting to change now, and im itching to get out somewhere since im tired of neighborhood lakes, and I want to try something new.

2.Where should I acess these creeks? I know of only one way to access cypress creek from meyers park, and the same with spring creek through spring creek park. I do have a vehicle but its modified so it cant jump curbs or drive through really heavy mud.

3.What would be the average depths of these creeks?

4. What should I use as bait? I want to target all types of fish but would rather stay away from bluegill(except as possible bait)

5. Tackle?? Bobbers, weights, hooks. I have no problem switching out tackle through out the day

6.Any other fishing areas with in Spring Tx? Besides neighborhood lakes with varying success, Ive hit conroe(better with a boat imo), Heard lake woodlands is over crowded, and people rarely catch fish there now(according to friend), thinking about hooks airport but havent looked at the lake, fished burroughs park lake(last week) and even though its mostly dry there is still fish in there(caught two crappie, 1 catfish, one bass)!!!

Hope to hear from people!!!!! Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the Forum!
Don't have much to add about the fishing up there, except any time is a good time (except for flooding conditions.)
Match your tackle and bait to your quarry. There will be bass, crappie, sunfish, catfish, buffalo, carp, gar, and in Feb/Mar white bass run up from Lake Houston.
Access is always a problem around Houston. It's catch as catch can (pun intended!). Be prepared to hike to better areas.
All creeks will have shallow and deeper areas; most of the fish are in the deeper holes in my experience, but this can change seasonally.
Best thing to do is go early and go often!
Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I did end up just going out and seeing how bad the access was around cypress creek, started at meyers park, worked my way to stubner airline bridge but had to head to class after, water was fairly low by meyers park but looked like it gets deeper after stubner airline. managed to catch a few perch and a bass.

Hey protege,
I'm from the area and I typically fish Meyer Park or the ponds in the Woodlands. I strictly catfish and usually during the night hours, but Meyer and Reedy Pond (off of Gosling) have yielded way better catches (multiple >8# cats) than I've ever caught out of Cypress Creek. The best and easiest place to fish, though, off of Cypress Creek is under the bridge off of TC Jester just right past Cypresswood. There is a parking lot about 50 yards away and a sandy area below the bridge to post up and fish from. Unfortunately I can never catch anything substantial from that spot. If you ever feel like fishing with me, shoot me a PM, I'd be glad to set out a couple of poles with you.

CGIDD8,

I just googled Reedy Pond. There appears to be a parking lot north of the pond. Is that lot for the fisherman? Do you have to be a resident of the Woodlands to fish that pond. I live in Conroe and would like a place to go that I did not have to march through a lot of woods.

The parking lot I think you're referring to is a small drive way for utilities people to enter some sort of electric/water facility. I usually park in the post office or shell gas station parking lots right across from the pond. I have fished there now for over a year and have never been towed or even warned for parking there.

You don't have to be a resident of the woodlands to fish there nor do you have to have a fishing license but it is only catch and release. If you wanna check out some fishing spots in the woodlands check out fishinginthewoodlands.com
