I've been to the one in Mesquite and it wasn't good at all. Maybe it was the day or whatever, but I haven't been back and probably wont go back. BBQ is too expensive for a second try.

I've ate at the one in Frisco, meh at best. I was lucky enough about two years ago to meet and fish with Randy at Fork. During casual talk I asked him what kind of wood they use in the restaurant and he didn't even know...
He laughed and said a few cuss words and then we all laughed with him!!

Mesquite bbq downtown Mesquite!!! Yes sir I used to go there back in the 70's. I dated a cowgirl whose Uncle owned the place. I wonder if the same people own it still. Great barbecue.

Back in the day ( 99-2002ish ), the Frisco location was called Hutchins BBQ ( same place that's in McKinney ). The Frisco location was at the corner of Main and Preston. A bank bought the property, dozed it and built a brand new building, etc.. RW's moved a few 100 yards into a brand new building a year or so later. Now, they have wood outside the place, but I'm not so sure that they cook in a real wood smoker...? I kinda also thought that all RW did was lend his name and a bunch of souvenirs to the decor and call it Randy Whites, when in fact it was still Hutchins. I can't confirm any of this.. just seems like the same ole place as what Hutchins was..
Food is average at best. Sides are pretty good and they have free rolls and ice cream/cobbler..so you have to consider that when feeding the family. I prefer it to Rudy's in Frisco but in NO WAY shape or form does it compare to ANY central Texas BBQ joint.

Tough crowd... been to Randy Whites in Mesquite and I liked it, and I like Dickeys, and Sonny Bryans, and Big Als, and Raymonds and Red Hot & Blue, and Spring Creek, and just about any BBQ!

Seems to me I remember Randy White trying the restaurant game back in the 90's in Denton. On university in front of the Kroger.

Great barbecue. no, he was a transvestite and his queer mother sold the place. I don't know how in the world you're going to work that one out, but there you go.

I haven't found any BBQ in Texas that was bad, and I've eaten at most of the places talked about. You guys are just too dam picky and spoiled.
