Been telling her that for years!! She had neck surgery about ten years ago and it started bothering her again. She went and had it checked and sure enough she has a screw loose!!! Actually the bone graft didn't take so the screws wollered out. So I can get away with saying she has a screw loose!! I don't know what the rest of the female populations excuse is though!!! Lol wait a minute while I get this foot out if my mouth!!! Lol

I just love that you found a way to write "wollered" in that--

My Dad says that, I love it!

Very cool info. Thanks for putting that together. Makes a lot of sense when you explain it the way you did.

The one thing I try to understand more than anything when looking at a fish finder is what are the fish doing. In my years fishing for big blues, bass, stripers, crappie, blue gill or whatever the important thing to learn is what are the fish doing that you see on the screen. Tiny's old thread about understanding your graph gave some great info on that. Like Jerad said each person has to learn what works for them. I kind of have a feel for what I see fish doing on the graph and I did not have a color graph until this last year. You need to beable to know if the fish are feeding, active/inactive or transitioning or just dormant. There will be days or parts of days where fish are in all phases on a giving body of water depending on your depth and location.
One thing to remember about side scans is that the distance you set to the right or left is the bottom you see on the screen to the right or left of the water depth part of the screen. So if you see what you think is a giant fish and it 1/10 the lenght of the screen and you have it set at 100feet that is a 10 foot fish and unless you have giant gator gar in your lake it probably is not a fish. So keep in mind your scale on your screen. This is something that comes in very handy when locating brushpiles, trees and stumps. They may look little on the screen but in reality they may be as big as the boat.

+1 Tim. thumb

One thing I will add to your observation is chart speed / boat speed. If you are scanning too fast or too slow or you do not have the machine scrolling at the right speed you can make a fish look large that is actually small and make a small fish look very large if your moving too slow.
