What is KOT you may ask?
KOT is a non profit program I started along with some other great outdoorsmen from my website and a few others that provides fishing gear and equipment for a childrens camp. This is going to be the 5th year doing this and every year there is a great supply sent to me for them. They are taught the basics of fishing as in how to cast, reel, hooksets, line tying, etc and then are taken on a lake for a day of fishing.

Does it have to be brand new?
No...but do ask that items sent are in working order. Nothing takes the fun out of a child learning the sport of fishing if the item does not work or perform.

What can you send if you wanted to help out?
Basically the simple basics used for beginners. Light tackle, fishing line, bobbers, gift cards to sporting goods stores etc... Please no cash though. In the past I have received a check made out to me and that money was used for purchasing items. This program makes me no money or any gear or is it written off for tax purposes. I do not write a penny off for taxes...I do it for the kids

How can I help donate to this cause?

How are the items donated given to the kids?
Once all items have been in my hands they are packaged up into many categories for prizes. Farthest cast, biggest fish, most fish, etc...
A meal is also put out for them to eat provided also by donations of local grocery stores in my area. Brats, hot dogs, and beverages are served.

Why was this program named K.O.T. ( Kids Of Tomorrow )?
I have named this KOT because the future of the sport of fishing depends on the kids of today. Too many kids are without both parents, parents who dont have time, kids that are troubled, etc... We take the time to show them the fun and excitement of this sport in hopes of them wanting to continue fishing in the future.

Thanks to those from the past and those willing to help out in this years drive. Without the great sportsmen like us these kids would have nothing

We got your back again this year. These TFF guys come through big when it comes to programs like this.
As in years past anybody wanting to donate can either contact me or Briam via PM. Anybody that lives local I can meet for pick up, it won't even cost you shipping to Brian. Last year Chickenman helped out big time by covering the shipping for this camp.
We all have some tackle laying around that we no longer use, why not help a kid get into fishing with it.

Come on guys...no responses yet. Last year we sent those kids several hundred pounds of tackle. Let's get it going...

I went out yesterday and purchased 50 in gift cards from Cabelas and BPS for them

I don't know if this is the one I sent some reals to someone last year are not. I sent reals and fishing line to someone for kids at a camp. I never heard from the guy to see if they made it to him. Not concerned with the response so much as more so if they made it to the kids.

Yes BR they made it. If you did not hear from me it was because I didnt know who you were on here and I apologize. I did post last year a big thank you to all that donated because there were donations from members with no names enclosed.

Just got home from doing a little shopping for the program. Spent 86 bucks on gear for the KOT.Bought spinners,few tackle boxes,and a couple kid combos.

Donations slow this year. I have 1 box from Magged Out and a reel from hopalong to send your way so far

Picked up 12 flashlights today for them.

I have a feeling this will be my last year doing this program unless my mobility improves drastically.

Talked to my doc today and he said there is a very high chance the feeling in my leg may never return due to the amount of damage that was done to the nerves. Looks like the rest of my walking days will be done with a cane. Lets make this the best year ever guys...for the kids. I am hoping that the doc is wrong so I can keep this program going. I really enjoy the sport of fishing and teaching the kids. I am asking those that would like to donate to please make sure I have your donation of whatever it may be...no matter how big or small by the end of Feb.

The past 2 years the TFF crew has filled your basement to capacity.... I told you a while back, that even though most are a bunch of gonad busters, they are also willing to pitch in for the cause when it's something like helping kids get involved in fishing. Hopefully donations will pick up after the holidays when folks aren't so stressed out....
