Hey I just wanna do some fun braggin to my all buddies on here. I did a 4-day saltwater trip to Galveston last week, fished Tuesday to Friday with my out of town buddies and had an awesome 4 days!! This was my first time taking my boat with me and I was mainly targetting the October Bull Red run and some smaller but tastier golden croakers for my mom and older siblings in Houston. My mission was a very gratifying accomplishment!! I got to fight good monster reds every day with Friday, the finally, being the most epic!! Friday the reds ran thick and my crew and I were exhausted and left them biting. We had four monster "fish ons" at once one time and man that was a hoot!!! LOL!! The majority of the reds caught were in the 35-40" range and all CPR'ed . But more importantly, I, the baby of the family of 9 children, filled my Moms and older siblings freezers with some good fish!! LOL! woot

Here are a FEW of the pics I wanna brag about....hehe...and I took a bunch!! hehehe

Tuesday:

This is what a golden croaker looks like. Crocs size 10 for ref. My mom and older sibling love them.
We found them twice in four days schooling thick under out boat. They are sand bass and magnum sizes
but they fight much harder!!

Wednesday:

Started early for flounder and only caught a few, the water is still warm at 78 degrees. So not yet!

Caught a stingray too...

...and da BULLS

Thursday:
Water was very choppy so went to a proteced area and slabbed up some big sand trouts.

Once the water calmed down a bit, it was back to catching reds... grin

I stored by boat at a slip at Galveston Yatch Basin Marina. Man, that is one nice marina with high dollar boats!!! The daily slip rate is $1.50 per ft length of your boat. Slip has cover, electricity, water, storage shed, high security. You can leave your boat on dry land for $20 per day. I stayed at a 4-star hotel on the seawall. The off season prices are dirt cheap this time of the year. A double queen room, nice and clean, with break fast....the same rate as Shoestring farm!

My boat is home with me now in DFW.

Good job Todd! That bull red fishing is the most fun game in around. Looks like you had lots of open water, few other boats.

we were using small cicle hooks with live and cut baits. Live shrimp, live perch, live croaker, live mullet. Cut perch, cut sand trout, croaker work as well also. October is an easier time to target the bull reds. For the live bait, I would clip off the fish tail and fins with a scissor. You can use small hooks and shrimp to catch bait easily near the rocks.

Hey long time no see Jeff! Yeah I picked the weekdays to fish and was blessed with nice weather also with just the right amount of winds. Very light traffic on the week days. My Houston buddies said the weekend traffics at the NJ tip is pretty packed and you need to get there early.

I see several boats struggled to anchor because of the choppy seas. Man, my iPilot worked as design and everyone LOVED it!!!
