I saw this on TV and really want to try it but after a little research I'm concerned about the galvanized can.
Has anyone tried this? I have cut and welded on galvanized and it isn't pleasant but will cooking produce that kinda heat?

if it's like a barrel/drum smoker, i would go that route instead of the trash can.

I didn't think of using a drum. This is why I consulted this wealth of knowledge.

Wow that's differnt. I saw alton brown's show on the food network,"good eats",do a trash can cooking. Now i think he used a hot plate for the heat source.

Alton used two terracotta pots and a hot plate.

I've seen people use a regular galvanized trashcan as a dutch oven and it was delicious and juicy
