For years now I've been spending Thanksgiving week camping and fishing at Port Aransas. I've always camped out on the causeway between Aransas Pass and PA without a problem until last year. I caught a couple guys trying to break into my SUV. What they didn't know is I'm a lite sleeper and I always have my 9mm in the tent with me. Long story short, they exited post hast. I've stayed at the Fin n Feather before but I didn't like being woke up at 4am by the duck hunters and their air boats using the boat ramp their. Not that I have a problem with duck hunters or air boats. I just don't like being woke up like that. So here's my question. Were is a Safe, Cheep, and QUITE place to camp that's not on the beech. I would really like to find a privet home/land owner that would let me pitch a tent and camp for the week. I can pay a few bucks a night and I WILL keep it clean. I'm planning on camping the week of Thanksgiving from the 19Th - 26Th. I appreciate any suggestions, Thanks Dean

U did mean under the causeway i hope,I`VE been down there and can`t think anywhere u can pitch a tent on the causeway unless they`ve built another bridge and left an old one that I don`t know about..Back to what u asked unfortunately when u try to get away by urself like that that comes with the territory that used to be pretty safe place to be because most of the people that go there r fisherman or campers but it just ain`t that way no more..So u go back to what u were doing and keep ur pistol slinger close or go to a motel but even there u can still get broken in to.I know it sucks frown I used to live in and around PortA there was a time [I`m telling my age now] u could go to the beach or what ur doing leave keys in car, open tents, etc.. but u can`t hardly let ur guard down for a second nowadays cause u don`t know anyones intentions..Bill

i know you don't want the beach, but that is prime time for surf fishing, i would do PINS. you are protected from the nth wind by the dunes and any sth wind is mild and perfect. just plan for sand
