Veteran's Day Fishing Trips

I am going to offer the Veteran's Day fishing trips on Lake Lewisville again this year. I'll run both morning and afternoon trips (4 hours each) on Friday, November 11th and a morning trip on Thursday November 10th. Each trip will have 4 open spots available to all US Veterans and those curently enlisted. Price will be $60 $40 per person (price reduced due to donation). We had two great groups out last year and looking forward to having a great time again this year. Call, PM or email me to reserve your spot.

I would love to be able to take my Brother in law he is in the Air Force now and hasn't fished since he was 6. He would get a kick out of some big ole catfish, maybe ruin him for life.

I just received an anonymous donation from a very generous gentleman. He has graciously donated $240 towards the Veteran’s Day fishing Trips with Bobby’s Catfish Guide Service. What does this mean? This cuts the price down and the trip will now be only $40 per person for the 8 spots on Friday, November 11th and 4 spots on Thursday, November 10th. Just wanted to update everyone on the Veteran's Day trips. I just filled all 4 spots for Thursday's trip and still have 2 spots open for Friday November 11th. Just wanted to send out an update. All 12 spots have been filled for my Veteran's Day and Veteran's Day Eve fishing trips. I sent out an email earlier today to all of those participating in the trips. I can't thank you and all other service men and women enough for your dedication and service to our country. Looking forward to having everyone out and hopefully putting you guys on some good fish.

Veteran's Day 2011 - Catfishing on Lake Lewisville

First I want to thank all the Veterans that put their lives on the line for the sake of our freedom. I also want to thank the Veterans that came out to fish with me on Thursday and Friday along with the generous person who donated the hard earned money out of his own pocket to help fund the trips. We had a great turn out and got 11 guys out on the water in 3 trips.

We got started a day early on Thursday morning with Craig, Jeff and Steven in the boat. This was Steven's third time to fish with me this year and ALWAYS a blast to have in the boat. The fish were scattered out a bit, but the bite was faily steady with the northwest winds blowing at a steady pace towards the end of the front. The guys put 35 nice eating size blues with a few channel cats mixed in during the 4 hour trip.


Friday morning I had Ronnie, Stacy, Ross and the infamous Mr. Mel Petty in the boat. Ross informed me on the phone before the trip that he knew Mr. Petty from way back when. It didn't dawn on me until about an hour before the trip that I hoped those fellas knew each other on good terms. I really didn't want to have to deal with any riff raff from those two in the boat. Come to find out they were running buddies from some old Lewisville Single Club. There were some VERY interesting stories being told in the morning shift.

Now back to the fishing side of things. The winds changed over night and now coming back out of the south. The fish we were on the day before were still there, but not biting. The guys hung in there and brought some nice fish back to the cleaning table along with a few bonus fish that Tom threw into the mix (I found a few that didn't have the fins clipped, but I'm not one to complain). We should have had a few more fish in the boat, but I somehow managed to shake three nice blues off for Stacy before he was finally able to get one in. On his 4th hook-up I just turned around and waited for someone to tell me when the fish was in the boat. I just couldn't bare to watch another one get away. Ross had the big fish of the morning with a nice blue that weighed just over 12 lbs. Lots of fun and great times despite a slower than average bite. Here are a couple of photos from their trip.

Veteran's Day 2011 - Catfishing on Lake Lewisville

Dave, Derrick, Damian and Jason joined me for the afternoon shift on Friday. The south winds were howling by this point and had the fish fired up! The guys started catching fish within minutes of gettting the first rods in the water on some good eating size blues. The trash talk picked up quickly too and a "front of the boat vs. back of the boat" rivalry quickly began. Derrick had the first of several really nice fish in one that weighed just over 9 lbs. and was leading the "I'm not buying the beer" contest for just a few seconds. By the time I got the fish out of the net, Jason got a solid take-down on the "Lucky Gold Reel". After severaly minutes he brough his new personal best to the boat that weighed over 12 lbs. Jason is now on the leader board. Dave wasn't about to be outdone by the younger fellas. He ended up with the biggest fish of the trip with a nice blue cat that topped the 14 lb mark. They finished up the trip with 35 eating size blues and a few channel cats in the box. The two trophy fish were released after a couple of quick photos. All in all it was a pretty productive 4 hours of catching. The guys had a blast with all of the cutting up, joking around and stories told (some, if not most probably shouldn't be shared on this forum). I'm not sure ended up buying the beer after the trip, but there was one guy that didn't get his picture on here with a big fish. Thanks again guys for such a great trip!

Bobby; Personally, I have fished with Mr Kubin t/o the seasons and have seen my catfishing abilities explode. He will teach you what you need to know to catch cats!! Example I went out last Thursday with a lady that had only caught about a 12" fish before. she caught two blues over 20lbs and several under 10lbs!!Most of this was thanks to the expertise of Mr Kubin; I believe in CPR for future generations.
To all the veterans many thanks for the quality of life here in America!! your sacrifice has helped me live a most comfortable and satisfying life!

I had a great time fishing with these guys; Bobby did a great job handling the boat in the wind and there was no down time thanks to his "expertise" in keeping all the lines in the water.
