I had to go to Topeka several different times for job related stuff and the food was bad.Oh yea don't ask for tea they bring you hot tea after giving you a strange look.A waitress told me that ice tea is for the summer.Tried the local mexican food and it was terrible,and this from being told it was the best.

gotta say, we pheasant hunt in ellis (little german town west of hayes) they got a buffet place called alloway's just off the interstate. everything from scratch, cheap, and the desserts are great. been going there for at least 40 years. i do agree with you otherwise.

I was a college student in Kansas for two years in the late 60's. I have to agree, there is not a good place to eat in Kansas. They just do not know what good food is.

The Corner Bar and Grill in Cawker City makes a pretty good burger and dishes out all the red beer you would ever want.

Yeah Kansas food isn't to good. I don't think they use seasoning on anything. I go up every year deer hunting and I am still looking for that good eating place. You would think that with all the beef they raise you could get a decent steak.

Sounds like a place to open an eating establishment as long as you didn't have to stay during the winter. They might all curl up and die if they ate good BBQ, CFS, and fried catfish. If they ate enough of it, who knows, they might even start talking like everyone else south of the Mason/Dixon Line.

In Lawrence there are 2 real close to each other....Burger go to The West Coast Saloon, for the BEST SUBS ever...Yellow Sub!!!

Everyone knows you have to go to...Williamsburg, KS. Place called Guy and Mae's. Small ghost town with some of the best ribs around.

Everyone knows you have to go to...Williamsburg, KS. Place called Guy and Mae's. Small ghost town with some of the best ribs around.

We pheasant hunt in that area also, and I agree with Alloways. We have hunted all over that state and the best food I have found is McDonalds. I guess the wind that blows up their takes away the sense of taste?

Cox's BBQ in Manhattan, Ks. Good Texas style BBQ, great sides. Always makes the trip up there more enjoyable. Best BBQ I've had since my favorite place in Midlothian recently closed!
