I will be holding an open tournament on Cleburne beginning this Sunday from 6:45am - 12:30pm.

$20 per angler (can fish as individual $20 or team $40)

Pays 1 place per 5 entries ($15 goes to pot, $5 to BB)

5 fish limit (14" minimum length. Short fish will result in 1/2 lb deduction plus loss of that fish, more than 1 short fish will result in immediate disqualification.)

Hey Morty,
It is going to be getting cooler so we won't have to worry about the morning bite and it is still pretty dark at 6:30, is there a possibility of changing the time to 7am to 1pm? The lake is low and does not navigate like it normally would especially for those who have not fished the lake?

Bassinfool, that works for me but lets make a time change at the ramp this week. Next week we will make it 7am-1pm as I have talked to several people and more thank likely cant remember everyone to let them know.

I am going to try to make it, haven;t had my boat on the water in 4 months, plan to take it out Saturday and see hoe it runs, if all goes well I may join you guys Sunday morning.

Also, Morty, I will be to see you, need a spare for boat trailer.

this tournament is gonna take a sack to win gonna be a fun day of fishing

Decent turn out with 10 people. 15 plus pounds won with a 5.56 big bass, fish did not really turn on for us until about 10:30. Can't make it next Sunday due to work but will return.

Morty - Is the start time this coming Sunday 0645, as suggested at the ramp?

Just thought we would clear it up for all. Your previous post is stating 0700.

The ramp is decent, the City put about 2 tons of large gravel at the end of the ramp and no one had problems.

That was the smaller of the two!

Had 8 show up. Waited for weather to slow but never did. Tourney was cancelled so a few of us went fun fishing. Weather was bad but the bite was good. See ya next week!!

Today was good, had 15 fish and a lot of fish brought to the scales.
Congrats to Robert and Chris with 5 fish for 17.80 for First

Fishing is really starting to get good. We will not be hosting the event next Sunday. Marti and I will be fishing the Club year-end. If anyone wants to run it they can post here and we will see ya'll on the 13th on November.

That is what happens when you try other places also, you would be surprised what that lake really has.

Yah but why fish other spots when you can pull 18lbs off one lol saves gas and you get to go to weigh in early!

You might have something there but when it gets colder I promise you that spot will not produce. Been there and done that. My PB is from Cleburne but not that spot........

My pb is from alvy a spot I never fish and will never fish again
but I won't be on cleburne after November until Feb only Squaw and monticello till then I think this tourney is gettin moved to Squaw also

I need to fish alvi more, don't know much about the lake other than the reeds when the water is up. Marty is talking about moving the Sunday working mans jackpot to Squaw Creek?

My young bride and I will be fishing the CAST and Texas BASS Couples metroplex trails.

He mentioned it when he started up the Sunday tourney. Alvy is great at times fishes about the same year round. Ever wanna know some spots shoot me a pm or certain ways to fish the docks you'd be amazed how many times people leave fish all over those docks . Well kvs and rolo don't leave any the key is beat them there!! Lol

u cant crank in the reeds well u can but ur gonna waste alot of time going into the reeds to get ur bait back

No that is when I throw my Alvarado Custom Tackle Jigs.....caught some real nice catfish and bass with them. I'm sure you can buy some from Eddie.

How is the ramp by the golf course?

It's good enough to launch there.. City dumped rock at the end of it during the Summer.

As far as I know it will still be sundays from 6am to 12 noon. Maybe Marty will chime on here and confirm.

when i changed the time i called marty and that was the time he told me to change it to so i think thats the time we are gonna use now

It will be tough for you guys to sit on that one spot with winds 15-25 and gusts to 40 tomorrow. Don't think we will be fighting the hard winds tomorrow.

This little tourney needs to set up a distance rule like most all other tournaments have before someone gets a crankbait stuck in them. Most have at least a 25 foot rule but I know from experience that other boats are closer than that during this tourney. Just saying before someone comes in and it gets real ugly between two boats.

Bass guy I totally understand that it does not matter to you but it might matter to others who are fishing and someone comes up on them. I have personally fished much larger tournaments than this and if I want to fish a spot and someone is already there, I go somewhere else. I believe that is the sportsmanship of tourney fishing.

I guess what I am trying to say for example, shotgun start and I get to a location first, I don't want to have to change they way I fish because someone is behind me and I hurry up to let them fish there too.

Not talkin trash but if people don't show up they really can't complain about the rules Chris,Marty,and dean are the only 3 fishing today.

That is trash talk, had tourney at EM. So unless you know what you are talking about, refrain from comments like that. I know who you were talking about. Start fishing some bigger tournaments instead of the local ones then see how you compare to others on other lakes then you can trash talk.

It wasn't trash talk at all. I wasn't there I had my son. All I meant by it was its martys tournament if not a lot of people are showing up I don't think he's going to change any rules. Now if he ends up moving it to Squaw I'm sure he will make more rules until then I just don't think he cares.

I think we have beat this subject and topic of rules to death, I will leave it at that and continue fishing.
