I have so many it's ridiculous but I REALLY like my Cliff boxes that I have. Really depends on how big of a box you want. For the kayak I have a Bugger Beast for all my bass stuff and a few Crab shacks for bluegill and carp boxes.

I forgot to mention that i was looking for a box for BASS flies, so there mostly medium sized flies.

The bugger beast is HUGE. It's one of the biggest fly boxes on the market.

I found Trokar Hook Boxes (made for high dollar bass fishing hooks) at Gander mountain for 9.99, the box contains foam preslitted & very usable for flies, or you can purchase ripple foam for around 5-10 bucks, these boxes are IDENTICAL to the boat box sold by Umpuqa for 40 dollars (I was dumb enough to buy one at that price before I found the Trokar box.
the Trokat sticker peels right off & its identical to this box that sells for $30 more, both are excellent boxes for bass flies

Could just ditch the whole slide the fly under the foam thing and switch to double sided plano boxes. Ive been in and out of the foam/tackle box thing for a few years now and i keep coming to the conclusion that a standard tackle box or the like is the most convenient. I think mine is listed for terminal tackle or something.

what do you guys think. I dont want the hassle of stabbing my flies into foam, and i like the double sided configuration.

Perhaps that flambeau would be too small for bass flies?

Those are really good boxes BUT they're really skinny. They will smush bass flies pretty easily. I have all my terrestrials for bluegill and trout in one of those. It's good for smaller flies, but I'd go ahead and get a big box for all your bass stuff.

Hey Joe,

Check out these fly boxes. www.flyfitters.com
We make some of the largest boxes on the market. They are perfect for bass bugs and large saltwater flies. The foam comes in slit or ribbed styles. We have been selling to retailers for years but we are now selling direct online.

Bass Bug that trokar box is a great idea, I'm gonna have to go look for a couple of those

I have a ton of different ones, just depends what I'm fishing for. My bass box is similar to Buds converted vhs box and all my nymph and trout gear is spread out between much smaller sizes that fit in vest pockets

This looks like a great box to hold streamers too, is it?

Also, I bought some fly fishing boxes that were similar to the C&F design, but 1/3 the price. You should check them out. They are great for holding small midges.

I find small format (single sided) standard tackleboxes to be ideal for Bass and Saltwater flies. Poppers, clousers, etc. Compromise quantity a little bit but it seems easier on the flies (don't get squished as much) and it's a heck a of a lot easier to get the flies in and out of the box.

Of course I'm one uncoordinated dude, so your results may vary.

J.

This is a fine fly box. I am a field tester and can speak with some experience. Works for me!
