Come join us on the banks of Lady Bird Lake(Town Lake) on Saturday November 12, 2011 for Wild Carp Club's of Texas first tournament - Wild Carp Texas Showdown
The peg draw is at 6am under the I-35 Bridge : gps coordinates 30.251609,-97.735909.
Tournament starts at 7am and ends at 7pm. Fish caught before 7pm will be given time to be landed. You will be allowed to prebait up until 7am but no lines with hooks until then.

Basic Rules
$50 per person
Three rods per angler, one hook per rod
Proper Carp care is required (including use of landing mats, catch and release angling, and use of holding sacks when awaiting marshals)
Weigh marshal must weigh your catch and record your score
No bait boats or boats allowed
Common carp and Smallmouth buffalo count towards total weight, White Amur do not.

It will be a 12 hour , peg draw style tournament with total weight of carp and smallmouth buffalo winning 85% of total entrance fees received.
1st Place = 50% of prize money
2nd Place = 35% of prize money
3rd Place = 15% of prize money


This event is open to everyone, no one shall be excluded. Tournament Director does reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who is a distraction to the event.

I take it this is an individual tournament?

yes it is, carp and buffalo will count towards total weight too

Dang I need a better job! I'd be all over this if I could afford any of that fancy equipment!

I like the buffalo being counted in the weight, should be interesting, I will try to make it.

Do you plan on doing any team tourneys in the future?

you dont need fancy equipment, just make sure you have a knotless net, landing mat and a keep sack. I have scales, slings and tripods for my marshals for verifying weights

Yes, just show up and fish. A roll call would be nice so I know how many marshals I will need and which pegs to use

it is a singles event, so if you will be allowed to have someone help you net fish but they cannot touch or help land the fish in any other way

Stephen, yes there are some team events planned for next year a well as a points based tourney that is free to enter and highest points at the end of the year wins prizes

My wife and I are doing the same; haven't booked a room yet. Something between Motel 6 and the Wyndham...

I went and scouted out all of the potential pegs today and the homeless(bamboo) swim is definitely out due to summer growth. WWD 1 & 2 have some casting issues but should be fine. I'll have all of the pegs sorted once we see what the actual turnout will be. If 8 or less people show up we might just fish the newly cleared bank space on pleasant valley.......

Would not recommend Pleasant Valley right now - lots of weed out in front, bank access is not really very good at all for netting fish. The first ATC there were 13 teams of two between Somerville and I35 West - 8 single should be able to fit there easily, especially if you include 35E

I'll be staying at the Clarion Inn with the wife on Friday night; most likely driving back to Houston Saturday night.
