The Indian remains were discovered in near my back yard. They were specificially in John Paul JOnes Park about 30 yards west of the public boat ramp. Someone fishing found a peice of jawbone with teeth and called police who told him it was a goat. Later they found more bones, including a scull and called again. The police treated it as a crime scene until they began finding arrowheads and a spearhead then they call the the archeologist from the college in Denton. I watched them all day while they excavated the site. It was facinating. Someone said they found enough leg bones to guess there may be 3 people, but without any return phone calls for authoroization to dig further, they packed up the bones and sent them to the medical examiners office and just left. I went there again the next day and there are still bones everywhere in small peices, but no authorities around. There is however, a really crazy lady who starts screaming at you and threatening to call police if she sees you down there, so I do not advise going to the site. She sits in her truck down there all day and waits for anyone to come to look at it and she is truly crazy. I am waiting for her to pull a gun or something. The archeologist said there could be hundreds of people buried there, but it is not a good place to start an excavation because if it rains and the lake level goes up the site will be lost.

I was there when they found them and stayed and watched all weekend. The burial site is at John Paul Jones Park, about 30 yards west of the public boat ramp (off Bass Pro Drive) A man that was fishing found a jawbone with teeth. The police told him it was a goat. I heard later his wife found a scull. Then the police treated it as a crime scene until they found a bunch of arrow heads, spear heads and several leg bones. Then they called up to Denton to the college to get an Archelologist and they excavated a small area, but by law could only dig where the police had already dug. The archelologist said there could be hundreds of bodies there, but he does not have authorization to dig any further. I went back down there the next day after everyone left and found several bones, vertebre and arrowheads. But there is some crazy woman who says she owns the burial site and makes a lot of threats if you show up there, so I suggest staying away to avoid trouble. You cannot reason with the mentally ill.

I visited the "site" that souxie proclaimed yesterday.
There was zero evidence of any excavation what so ever.
The only vertebrae that was found was from a semi large catfish that had died near by, which happened to be almost exactly 30 yards from the boat ramp. There was no crazy lady in a truck. I searched every foot of the uncovered lake, and not a single scrap of evidence was found.
I did, however, find 3 tennis balls, an old aluminum baseball bat, a large auger bit, about 40 dead fish, 3 dead turtles, around 50 fishing poles, a few thousand feet of fishing line, and enough garbage to fill a moderately sized apartment.
So, in closing, the only burial site to be seen at this supposed location is an Indian catfish burial site.
