Best Mexican food in San Marcos?

Will be in San Marcos next weekend to fish Cast Top Six Tournament. Who has the best Mexican food there? It should be better than the fishing. lol

durn, either there is not much in mexican food there, or everyone is tight lipped about their favorite spot. Other than mexican food, is there a good place to eat in San Marcos that is not a chain resturant?

It's not in San Marcos, but the best in South Texas is Los Gallos in New Braunfels. If you get breakfast tacos start off with just one because they are huge. The lunch and dinner is outstanding! You can park in the church parking lot next door because there is no room in their lot. It's worth the drive for the food....

I use to go to Herberts way back when.It was a small portable building back then,about 8 tables.

Just got through eating at Herbert's, outside it doesn't look like much. when you go in you know its going to be good. Looks like the locals eat here. All you that said it was good, well,
it still is. Thanks.

There's a couple of bigger restaurants on Aquarena Springs. Los Cucos and Mamacita's. Never eaten there, but I've heard good things.

Not a fan Los Cucos or Mamacitas. Adobe Cafe in NB is much better

I don't know about the others, but when I go back there, I will go to Herbert's again. Also need to try out the breakfact tacos at Los Gallos.

Los Gallos = BARF!!! they are big and horrible.
Id rather have a Rudys taco then there. You would think NB would have a good taco place, but they are all gross and dirty.

Herberts is good. There use to be another little place on the other side of town that was good also. Little shack but good.

There was a place called Manna's in a neighbor hood years ago. Used to go there at 2:00 am and pig out after a night out.I think that was the name.
