Came across this fella on the way in. I chunked a rock at him and he swam right into the path of where I had to go. After I watched him slither into the grass I broke a land speed record for the 30 yd. dash in heavy mud boots.

Came across this motor. After seeing where it was in relation to this huge stump, I know why it's there.

Somebody lost something!

The area under the power lines is littered with concrete blocks that look like they were used for trot lines. There are a LOT of these scattered everywhere. Looks like they would take a prop off.

More random pics.

Trail where someone came in while the water was super skinny.

And a trail where someone came in while the water was too skinny. The road stopped here for them.

The river is actually a real pretty place.

And, on the way out I almost stepped my my little buddy who was sun bathing. Yikes!! Well, he was about 3.5 to 4 ft. He went his way and I went mine.

To anyone who thinks they are going to brave the trip to the river without knowing the proper path.......... I caution you, there are a lot of these out there that will take the motor right off of your boat. When the lake is at full pool, this part of the lake is maybe 3 ft. deep at best. This means that most of these stumps are right at or just below the surface of the water.

It sure would be nice while it's so low if the city would go in and clean out the trash and things that do not need to be there. Wait, this is Dallas. What was I thinking! hammer

205. But I have a Jeep Rubicon on 36's and I had to use 4WD and my lockers to get close. There is a draw that I had to cross to get out there. Still could not drive all the way onto the lake bed. No way to get a big vehicle through.

There was not too much trash out there. Not like I expected. There were some batteries, car parts, tires, and a LOT of trot line stuff (weights and concrete blocks with string attached).

I looking at the multitude of unused tags on my fishing license when it occurred to me that if the state was actually concerned for the resources it would make these tags for trot lines, rare fish (ie; 1 bass over 10 per year), etc, etc...my point being if a tag was needed for a trot line then maybe they wouldn't litter the lakes with so much stuff.

nice pics btw, i like the shot of the stump & the motor

You can mark all the stumps you like, but they will get taken down once the water comes back up. Always have, always will. The post you see on that stump is a metal post held on with a C-clamp. Don't know why that one has lasted this long without being removed.

I did not modify any stumps or move anything while I was there. But, if the mud was not so thick and deep under the power lines, I would have moved all of those cement blocks and piled them up by the powerline base. These things are going to destroy some lower ends and props. The lake is going to have to go another month without water to be able get to those blocks. I almost had to pull out of my boots a couple of times.

A bunch of us should go in with chain saws and cut those stumps down to the ground. Then you don't have to wory about someone taking the markers down No stumps, no need for markers.

As far as I know, it is not legal to do that. Besides, the guys that go up there use some of them as markers. If you take them out they have nothing to use to tell them where they are. This would make it dangerous for them. No need to cut them down. Besides, stumps hold fish.
