I remembered reading this thread a while back about catching bass in the Trinity near downtown Fort Worth.

http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...er_I_35W#UNREAD

Seems like that would be a real nice place for a quick evening trip.

Has anyone ever kayaked/fished the area? Obviously, I'd think catch and release is necessary for health reasons.

I've kayaked the area, and fished the area (for carp and buffalo) but not at the same time.

There are a lot of fish there, and it can be a lot of fun.

I demo'd a Diablo there a while back. No fishing, but it was easy to get in and out of the yak there.

Awesome. Thanks for the info guys. I am a newbie, but feel pretty confident on my Kayak. Is there anything to worry about around there?

Lol! Sadly, those could be legitimate concerns!

I don't know when, but I think that I am going to give this spot a try. I only live 10 minutes or so away. I know that they have been making alot of efforts to clean up the Trinity near downtown, and make it a tourist/outdoor activity area. I've heard of tube floating trips etc. So, it can't be too bad.

Please let us know what you think after giving it a try. I was wondering how it may be on other parts of the Trinity River as well.

Man that photo scared me. I wondered what those polluted fish looked like.

Yea... nothin' in that stretch of the Trinity but mossy rocks. Best not to go there.

Over the past two years I've made paddling and fishing the entirity of the Trinity river my own little project. I have plans for a book but that is along way off. I'm sure I'll need/want to revisit many parts of the river before I get to that point.
So far I have been all the way down the West Fork over the course of 3 different four day trips.
I've been down the Clear Fork and I've been down Elm Fork. That is excluding the lakes of course. I'm not interested in paddling across a lake just to say I did it. I've spent enough time paddling across them chasing birds.

I still have East Fork to do but I've paddled from the west fork and clear fork convergance to a little over half way to Livingston in a series of weekend trips over the past year.
This spring I plan on picking back up the project and starting off with east fork then finishing up the trip to livingston then working on getting to the bay.
