I am currently looking at the possibility of getting one of these boat, SK1700 and SK2000, preferrably the SK2000. These boats are darn near like finding a needle in hay stack, since they were only made for a few years, and I have only found 3 online in about 8 months. Does anyone have any good and/or bad feedback aon any of these two models?????

Back several months ago it was the winner of a thread on here as possible the ugliest bass boat ever made. I guess I would have to ask, why would you want one? There are probably reasons they only made them for a couple of years.

The decks are huge, and it has a layout which I like, and its a rare boat. But not sure about speed and the ride.

They are very rough riding and lean to the left so bad that one time it pulled the rubrail off. Definitely the worst boat Skeeter ever made.

I remember the first one I ever saw at a tournament at Rayburn. It was a SK2000 and looked so funny sitting on top of the trailer. Back then, it was so wide they had to design the trailer so the boat sat above the fenders and I believe Skeeter put 13" tires on the trailer to make it a little lower. They were strange looking boats, odd layout, rough riding, and slow. Did I say sloooooowwww! Skeeter missed the mark on that one and killed it pretty quickly.

If you like the center console thing, Bullet and Allison make one, and you can still find a center console that Triton made back in the early 2000's. The Triton is actually a pretty nice boat and performs pretty well.

It's obvious you've never ever ridden in one, or this would not have come up for discussion...

The two worst hulls ever to come out of Skeeter, and can certainly be considered some of the worst bass hulls ever by anyone.

Porpoise at all speeds, zero turning ability, slow as death holeshot and pitiful speeds. A flat bottom skiff rides better. Seriously...

So one of the sk2000's with a 200 would be slow?

I had some skeeter buddies that were roped into running those things. We spent a lot of time, money and effort trying to get those tubs to operate in a semi-decent manner. It was beyond my skills.

The little boat with a 150 was a 52 mph rig after a lot of work, the big boat with a 200 was a 58 mph rig with even more work.

Here's what I remember about them.
1. Porpoise at all speeds. Nothing we could do would cure the bouncies.
2. When you got it running on top end as good as you could, holeshot would be 8-11 seconds. Pitiful. Grass grew quicker than that pig getting up on plane.
3. Handling was horrible, like driving a flats tunnel skiff, no turn at all, just slide to the right, slide to the left before it hooked a chine and spun out. Wheeeeeee

I guarantee you can find something better than one of those two hulls.

I bought a 88 sk2000 and fished this last season out of it, and loved it . It's big ,comfortable and a smooth ride . I have a 225 yamaha with a Stingray Hydrofoil Stablizer. 23 pitch 15 1/4 yamaha prop.... It jumps right on plain with ease, even at slow speeds. I can trim it out to hit 62 mph on a gps . I don't understand why these people are dogging it . The center console is genius . Turning is really not that bad . It's a big boat there's trades offs to everything . I fish big rough bays I can say that the sk 2000 Out performed a 2003 20 ft skeeter as far as ride goes. I can stay dry . Those talking about haul , Reggie fountain was one the designers (he makes half a million dollar off shores race boats ). The haul of the sk2000 was designded to push the boat up and out of the water . Although the boat is big and heavy I have no problem in shallow water . It is able to draft in 6 inches of water . So matched with my 6 inch jacket plate i go where most new more expensive bass boats can't .in conclusion the only con I have about the boat is the rod storage . roomy just tough to get into . But throw some rod socks For protection I can easily carry 16+ rods . This boat revolutionized modern day boats therefore a classic ...

There is a lot it digest here, but I have never heard that Reggie Fountain helped design the SK2000. I cannot find anything about it. Can you post something where you read this? Maybe this is what drove him into bankruptcy. rolfmao

i bought the last 2 sk 1700 they built they were the joke of the entire skeeter line the biggest problem with them was they couldnt get larger hp ratings only rating them for 150 was not enough hp with the way they rated them back then they stopped building them for the same reason the production stopped on the amc pacer nobody wanted them if there was a market for them they would have stayed with them longer they were very hard to build an were very heavy for their length as much money that was spent on the project they tried to make it work the demand was not there for the product i cant ever remember seeing a pro run .these boats

I was told by someone that reggie fountain had something to do with this boat . I was told a very beliveable story. I have scoured the Internet looking for something to back this up , and found nothing . Not sure where my source got his information . Sorry , if this is false

... That being said , I love my sk2000 . I like the fact that it is rare and unique . I know if I'm on big water and it turns rough. The" missile" is going to get back in .
