Anyone have a good grilled dove recipe besides the traditional bacon wrapped one?

i would not be publicizing shooting over your limit in one day.

Hopefully your joking but just in case your not, I've heard that's only about a 200 dollar a bird fine...

fry 'em whole.

I was raised to pick (or pluck) 'em. this method is a pain but it's worth the effort. the breasts, legs, and skin are all intact. dust 'em in seasoned flour and fry 'em like backstrap. season 'em and grill 'em whole. the meat on their tiny legs is sweet and delicious. since the skin is on there is no reason for the bacon as the skin keeps the meat moist.

There are those who could care less about rules, regulations and restrictions - they'll do it if they think they can get away with it. In the end, it not only hurts them (the outlaws/poachers which they are) but every single law-abiding sportsman and sportswomen in the outdoors.

And it also gives more power to the anti-hunting folks to work against us.

You are correct mbavo. Mistake on my part. I ended up not going back out and havent been back out since that morning. Now with all the smoke around town i may not get back out there for a while.

my wifes favorite dove recipe. fillet the dove breast off the bone. soak nuggets in terriyaki sauce for at least 4 hours, better over night. take out of marinade. place a chunk of pineapple on both sides of breast nugget. wrap in bacon, season and grill.

my sons favorite. fillet dove off bone. clean fillets, pat dry and roll in seasoned flour. pan fry to almost done. take dove out of pan,get rid of most of the oil in pan. chop up an onion and saute in oil and left over bits from fried dove. cook onion till soft then add sliced mushrooms. saute till all is soft. add a can of cream of mushroom soup. add dove back to pan. can add a little milk if it gets too thick. cook slowly. serve over a bowl of rice. pretty good eating.
