Got the frozen pie crusts and can of apply pie filling. Pie needs a top crust. How do I use the other frozen crust to make a top crust? Esthetics is not a concern.

I tried popping the crust out of the aluminum container by bouncing it off the counter. I put if in the microwave on high to try and defrost a bit. Aluminum pie plate does not work in microwave too good. Lot of sparks and a little bit of smoke. It did get the crust defrosted but still stuck to the pie plate. I finally scraped the crust out in strips and got the top of the apples covered. Doesn't look good but ought to work.

I don't have to impress anyone with my cooking but myself. Don't care what it looks like long as the crust is flaky but not burnt and I can taste all the cinnamon/sugar I topped the apples with.

Hey grandpa, Here's what i do. I did it the way you do it but i liked a better looking pie. So i looked in the refrigerated section where they have the can biscuits. Look around for pie crusts in a box. The boxes are about 14" long and 1 1/2 tall and 3" wide.Pilsbury makes them and outhers do to. I usally the walmart brand(just as good). What they are,are two round pie crusts NOT frozen. They are chilled you just lay them out for about 5 minutes and they are ready to go.they are pretty plyable. Unroll one place it in your pan push into the bottom. Then put your filling in and unroll the top place on ,crimp the sides and cut a few slits in the top. Much easier to use than the old frozen kind. Mark

Update:
Got the frozen crust for the bottom and the roll out for the top.
Made apple pie with canned filling. Looked good and tasted better.
Made same with canned strawberry filling and top crust. Tasted good but doesn't look right. Needs half cut berries and whip cream topping.

Got the fixins' for another apple pie plus some vanilla ice cream for ala mode. Screws up the blood sugar but damn it's good.
