I wasnt able to get on the water this weekend due to a trade show I had to attend in dallas. However, on my way home yesterday evening I had a little extra time so I decided to check out some ramps on the lake.
The free ramp off of 2859 looks to be in good shape.
My next stop was the free ramp off of FM309. That ramp looks horrible. There was one boat trying to launch when I drove up. His truck was at a 30-40 degree sideways angle while launching. Im not sure if the ramp is out of the water or if there is just big sediment build up on the ramp but I can tell you I wouldnt try it with my truck and boat.
I launch at oak cove every weekend and that ramp is still good. They have the ramp down to 2 lanes instead of three but those lanes are in good shape.
I havn't launched at fishermans poing but ive been up in the cove and that ramp looks to be in good shape as well.

kubroe: Better keep a eye on the ramp at the 2859 bridge.... at the end of the concrete there is a drop off... But I think the lake has to go down a few more feet before that will be a problem. When the lake was down 11 ft some folks tried to get the county to fix this problem but nothing was done.
Crappie fishing... what else is there ??

Thats good to know. I dont typically use that ramp. I watched several boats load up sunday and some were 20'+ boats so it appears to be usable at the moment.

I have friends in from out of state and they have a cabin on Richland Chambers Labor Day weekend. I have never fished RC. I would like to catch a few White Bass or Hybrids any advice would be great. I also was reading about Oak Cove is a place to launch the boat. The cabin is closer to a boat ramp on the south side of the lake called Midway Landing? With the water down is Midway Landing useable? I have a Skeeter boat. thank you, John

John, I'd use only Oak Cove or Fisherman's Point Marina. I believe Midway's ramp is not usuable. Check out the Report on our website at www.gonefishin.biz for pretty current fishing info. I fished five days last week with easy limits on White Bass three of them and around a 50 fish box on the other two. Fish are not schooling exceot the early AM so you'll need to use your Graph to locate them. They're also scattered and are not as much on the Main Lake as they are up the Creeks in the timber. If you'd be interested in a Guide Trip, we have a boat open on Friday & Labor Day Monday. Good Luck!
