Looking for a small beach house for two that includes pets.

We have three requirements.

#1: I want to spend my mornings sitting on the patio drinking coffee and watching the sun come up over the gulf.

#2: Can't do a whole bunch of stairs. Need some way around this.

#3: Absolutely must allow small dogs. We will be traveling with our cocker spaniel, Vaquita. She is crate trained and sleeps in her house every night. She is extremely well behaved. I can guarantee that she will not chew or destroy or soil anything.

Looking at being down there about a week at the end of May. My husband's birthday is May 22nd and I'd like to see how much it would be to stay down there through Memorial Day Weekend. grin

Ideas, suggestions, etc... Please and Thank you!

Can't say that I know of a place for you but on Mustang Island (Port Aransas), there are lots of home and condos. Having said that, if your plan is to drink coffee in the AM while overlooking the beach at sun up, you will almost have to deal with a place with a 2nd story. The reason is that the sand dunes between the beach and condos/homes is too high to allow you to see the beach without being on the 2nd floor (or higher).

Yep. I know, Scott. I love the area and would move down there in a heartbeat if I could. I still run up and down stairs, but my sister is handicapped and we NEED something that either has a home elevator, a ramp, or something so she can get up.

I know it is going to be a challenge, but that's why I asked now. I want time to get it right, and I want to stay somewhere that I'm happy just being there. I don't want anything too fancy, I really don't want a hotel, I just want a little house right on the gulf where I can put my feet up for a week and relax.

You might look at Channelview condo's they are on the channel right past the jetty. To see the ocean you must be in the South most building but, they have an elevator from the parking garage to all 3 floor's. They have a fishing pier that is lighted and gated open 24 hrs. You can go from you condo to fishing in less the 5 min.

Hope this helps

Asking again.

I would really prefer not to be too close to other people. Wanting the feel of having a summer home on the coast. Want to sit on the patio and drink our morning coffee and relax.

homeaway.com look up Port Aransas, there are some beachfront homes for rent that meet your criteria.

Look at the Beachcomber in Port A. They're close to the beach and have a view. Maybe you could look into renting an RV? We take ours to the IB Magee beach park in Port A every summer and it has a 3 story observation tower that has an elevator. One of my friends is wheelchair bound and he stays there. The view from the tower CAN NOT be beat.

I looked through the Homeaway.com website and didn't see anything that would work for us.. so I thought I'd ask again.

House overlooking some kind of water, with a patio where we can sit and drink our coffee.
