We can do a 5 footer in an 07 Nautique with bow and port front and rear tanks full. Plus 1300 lbs in storage and on the seat. You have to have counter clockwise twist motor and keep on a small curve to port. Just no fast turns or your gonna fill the boat full not alot of freeboard with that set up.

Try using them to your advantage. I was fishing a deep sharp rocky bank and they just kept going up and down and the wave action started to ignite the fish into eating and we had a ball.

Sand bass man Understandably with Lake Austin beig so narrow, occasionally you have to run close to other boats/fisherman than you normally would.... I understand that. The problem is that when people do ride 20 yards from you throwing their biggest wake when the whole lake is wide open... I dont think they understand that they are throwing their biggest wake by riding their but just under plain are too ignorant to realize that it is disrespectful and pisses us off. I learned at an early age how to be respectful on the water. I don't cut in front of someone to fish, ride over where some one is fishing, and I idle when necessary to be cutreous

i see it getting pretty bad over at lewisville by the dam. a lot of us wakeboarders go there because it is so calm and sometimes there will be a fishing boat or two. them 17 foot bass boats don't handle the wakes very well. i'll be in a green mastercraft if ya'll ever out there. i'll steer clear!

I just talked to a GW about all this when I ran into him at Academy. He said that the idea of pics or video of unsafe acts was good and would be investigated if possible, just to be understanding if the warden(s) weren't able to respond due to being involved in something more serious. I understand this completely. They are required to enforce ALL state laws since they are certified peace officers just like DPS and do more than just hunting and fishing violations, which some people do not realize. He was VERY interested in where the things complained about on this forum were occurring and implied he would pass it on to the appropriate regions, but of course he was unable to promise any action as he has no authority to assign wardens to certain duties. He suggested the regional office where the problems exist be contacted and inform them so they could better enforce the safety of all from these unsafe acts. The TPWD website has the contact info by countys if anyone desires to report anything. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/warden/find_warden/county.phtml?county=ANGELINA He echoed my own thoughts that just seeing that someone was photographing or videoing would cause the offender to stop their unsafe and unlawful behavior.

Anyword if chunking a 2oz slab at them was ok?? It's talked about so much on here I figured it was standard practice, maybe even in the yearly regulations booklet.

I've never been for "gratuitous lure chunking" at folks, but I've been known to put a ding in a jetski or two that continuously came within 50' of me at high speed. When they get that smart@$$ attitude and keep doing it on purpose, knowing that they are antagonizing people and could possibly overturn a Jon boat, then I throw on a 2oz lead weight(no hooks) and see how cocky they feel when it puts a quarter sized chip in their clearcoat. At 30', they're lucky I don't aim for their balls!

do not go to lake cypress springs until frost. i was out there late last thursday evening fishing off of a point and this waveboarder would come by and go around me on every one of this trips. we were the only two boats i could see on the lake and he had to showoff for me. i guess, and he was out there until about 9 p.m.. long after the sun had set. after a while i would just stand up and raise me hands as to say.."why"

The main issue is the popular wakeboard runs offer a lot of the same benefits we fishermen are looking for. Areas deep enough to hold fish in the summer heat and protected from the wind. There's no excuse for endangering anyone, but I'm sure the wakeboarders are looking at fishermen and saying "There's a whole lake out there to fish so why the hell does he have to sit in the middle of the best run on the lake?!?!"
I try to stick to the bridges and stumpy areas to avoid them.

maybe I will keep a bag of catfish charlie and chunk it at them..... Soured milo will work much better. You can use a wiffle ball bat with the end cut off and be able to sling it quite well.
