I think a bass gnawing on a turtle doesn't happen very often

it happens more then you think, they have a ton of amonia they produce, bass dont like it and eat the turtles just like a goldfish, they put off amonia and the bass go crazy over them, i used to have a baby turtle crankbait, it was pretty successful, but after a 7lb bass swallowed it, i didn't get it back...they work great in grassy lkes

just be careful i used to catch baby turtles and cut there tails off and hook them through the neck and toss em on the bottom caught a lot of big blue and yella cats

I'm out. I guarantee you a bass eats a shad, bluegill, or crawfish 70:1 over a Turtle. I will stick with probability

Ed Blackburn (my F-I-L) used to have a turtle crankbait that he used to swear by!

I'll bet that is a bad-azzed bait to put on a nest!

Seasonal bait for sure, assuming it's buoyant, if not a mistake by the mfg IMO. I'd modify it, at the bend of the legs I'd cut it off and take a razor blade and make 2 cuts between 1/8 & 1/4 long. Then stick a ten penny nail in the tail. Throw it up on a lay down jerk it in the water and dead stick.

Looks like we are divided on this one - some like it and some wouldn't even try it. CUTrition has some great ideas for it. Let us know how it works out for you. You may teach us something we didn't know. who_knows

If you look at the pic posted it appears that the turtle was taken from behind. It was probably suspended sunning itself, hence the nail in the rear & dead stick would make it look natural and an easy meal. Looked at the pic again, now I can't tell which end of the turtle I can see.

Where do you get these? Anyone who has seen how bass react to turtles around their bed would be in on this one. I saw a 3lber head butting the shell of a turtle about bowling ball size repeatedly until the turtle finaly turned and went the other direction. This was on Fork during the spawn.

Yeah, I saw that picture in the other thread after I posted in this one about your tips. I thought they were dead-on and it sure looks to be that way from the picture. Your tips suggested you had more direct information on this subject and then your post about yellow and black in the other thread nailed it.
Like you said, though, a seasonal pattern only good for a short time. I'll have to do a little research on the timing and give it a try next year. Don't think I'll have much competition. Thanks!

Put a little saddle on him and put a frog riding in the saddle and you're in.

doh Drop shot it, drag, shake dead stick and repeat. Can't be more than 4-5" long, if the head is big enough in diameter a good shaky bait.... alright next Spring I'm there.
