I'm wondering what y'all think about adding a jackplate to my 2011 triton 18 se!!! How much would it help or would it help at all! My other reason for getting one is that I'm also installing a Power Pole on my boat??? Tell me what ya think!

A jack plate is always good unless the Mfg tells you not to put one on it.

Jackplates are useful on some boats, not as useful on others. Many people spend the money on one and get much less than their investment in added performance or convenience. Jackplates have been touted as a miracle cure for issues. It might be, but then again, it might not. I would make one phone call to Steve at Steve's Custom Props, give him your specs on your rig, and let him give you some advice. He sells the best of the best but will not sell you something you don't need.

I put one on my very first Ranger many moons ago. It was a 320-V with a 115 Johnson and a 13" x 19" SSTII prop. It seemed with a full load of fuel, livewell full, and gear for me and my partner sometimes I had a heck of a time getting on plane. I bought a 6 inch set back mechanical adjusted unit. I think it was made by a company called Hydrodynamics. I set it up with about an inch of lift over stock and it made a huge difference. Really didn't notice much on the top end but the holeshot was much better. I think playing with some props could have gotten me more top end. Make sure if you buy one and have it installed that you get a water pressure gauge with it if you don't already have one. If you get it set to high trying to adjust it to your liking, you can get the water inlet on the lower unit to high out of the water causing the pump to cavitate and you can burn a piston real quick because air begins to accumulate in the water jackets...You want good steady pressure all of the time, if the gauge starts dancing around you are getting air and you need to get off of plane as fast as you can and lower it back down a little if you go mechanical.....

You need to get a 6" pro Hi-Jacker, and you need to run a 23P Tempest plus set it @ 2-3/4in Below the pad. If you want the most outta your setup send the prop to Mark Croxton to get B&B he is hands down the best there is along with Steve have heard great things on here about steve either would work. And trust me I know what im talking about with this setup. I could bet a paycheck I could tell you exactly what #'s you will see with it....

15psi..(minimum is 12psi but you want to see 15psi for safe measure and allow you to stay on pad more in turns. Also raising the plate to get to 12psi actually causes the boat to chine walk more therefor it is not any faster)
