Has anyone ever fished these two places for crappie and done any good?

I have been researching some places to go canoeing and camping and this place looked pretty decent.

Fort parker in the winter produces LIMITS. Fish are usually busy at night when the water temp drops. Not to sure about this time of the year.

Thanks for the reports guys, I will probably go fall and spring. To cold to risk the kids falling out of a canoe in the winter and to hot in the summer

are you talking the actual lake or up the river? I read the lake only produces good numbers of cats, but that would be great if it held crappie also

Fort Parker Lake is just a little bowl of water, but it does hold some fish. The area up the river from the lake has always produced better for me, and it's perty up there too. smile
It's a great spot when you're trying to get out of the wind, because the banks are high. Sometimes in the fall and early spring you can absolutely slay 'em up there! It would be a great place to take a conoe. Hold on too, cause you might pick up a nice largemouth on occasion.
Another good spot in that area for conoeing is the Navasota River at Hwy 164. You can put in under the north side of the bridge from the east. There is no ramp there technically, but locals have been putting in there for years. It's a great spot for running sandbass in Feb. If you head south toward Lake Limestone, you can find a few crappie too.(any time of year)
Good Luck!

Thanks for the report SLABEXPRESS, our plan is to camp there and rent a canoe and float the river. just an added bonus that it has some fish. May have to make our trips in the fall and spring though. thanks again
