What type of rod holders do you guys use for bank fishing?
My only catfish rigs DONT have a clicker so I just loosen my drag and let the fish run a little.

I made a few using PVC pipe attched to rebar to use with my "Absolutely can't afford to have this rod and reel disappear into the lake" setups.
otherwise...forked stick and clicker.

I took 1 1/2 inch pvc and cut them into 18 inch sectoins. Then take some 1/2 inch rebar and do the same. Get some pipe or hose clamps and put the rebar about six inches onto the pvc and clamp them together. I used 2clamps per holder

You can see them in the background.

I bought basically the same thing at.academy. they were like 2.99 each, and I didn't have to take the time to make them.

i made some like bbop's from scrap i had laying around. i also made one from a small garden fence post and pvc for surf fishing. it's not very time consuming to make either one and most people i know have the material laying around the garage or workshop anyway.

The ones from Academy will break with a bigger fish. The PVC is not as thick, if it is PVC. I want some that stand up high so I don't have to bend down to grab the reel. I saw 'em on Hooked when those Okie boys were noodlin' the Ebro, Spain.
Anyone have some fence stakes layin' around? I want to attach some PVC to it with clamps.

The ones from Academy will break with a bigger fish. I agree they are not very strong but I think setting the correct drag will solve that problem.

Very nice. I'll take 6 about 5' long. Is that Texoma? Ever have trouble driving them far enough into the ground or do you sharpen the end? I tried using some 3/4" solid, smooth iron bar similar to that but often couldn't get it far enough into the hard clay where I sometimes fish. Oh and loosening the drag will work as long as you're not too close to stumpage or if you're lightning quick to the rod which I'm not.
