Anyone, can you interpret this screenshot. I seldom see the same features in sonar as DI. Is this a school of fish or some other feature?

Thanks

It could be fish or it could be brush/tree. It must have been windy also. If you remain stationary and those returns move, it's fish.

Thanks. We were drifting at about .3 MPH. I've never seen brush on the bottom in this area, so I guess I can assume it is fish.

Looks like a school of fish chasing a bait ball. Once you go over them they fish are diving. Could be Whites.

I assume by Nasscardrivers reply that I can hook a 998 to my current transducers and use the ducer that commes with the 998 on the trolling motor for the 798?

From my reading, in this post, if you have a 798ci SI and you upgrade the software you will have DI capabilities. How is the imagery in comparison to a DI only unit? How does it do the DI off the transducer? For my application, a pontoon, I'm going to have to run another transducer and a y-cable due to motor interference on the left side of the SI. How does the 2D and DI work with a y-cable?

Thanks in advance! This forum has been a huge help!!!!!!!!

DI with a Side Imaging unit is a software interpretation of the SI images produced by the two SI crystals.

A DI unit has a dedicated Down Imaging crystal so the images will be sharper.

When you use the AS SILR Y cable for the two SI tranducer setup, only one of the SI transducers will be giving you the 2D and temperature. I think it is the right side transducer.

So in the case of it being mounted on two pontoons 7 or so feet apart, the interpreted image would probably not be of the best quaility since there would be a gap between the left and right signals? Looks like I may just hve to stick with a DI unit only frown

Ok, so I have had interferance from the big motor from the beginning. Shut the motor off and it is great. I have adjusted the noise filter, and when it gets to level 3 it clears up but will only show the bottom. I have also rewired the power cable directly to a battery. I have a 997si. Please help!
Thanks,
JR

Where are the transducer cables run? Try to keep them away from Electric Tachs. Also does your motor have resistor type plugs?

Call HB Customer Service they should be able to help.

I have not heard anything yet as to an official release date. It's still coming but no date is given until it is released.

I want to see side imaging pics from anyone not named Doug, or Wayne or any other Humminbird rep. I've been seeing a ton of great shots by allot of different people with the Lowrance units lately. Way better shots than I ever have gotten with my 997.

Apprantley you can some pretty amazing shots with the Lowrance right out of the box with out a ton of configuring that must be needed with the Humminbird. Either that or mine doesnt work very well

There is one from JR Howard in the middle of page 2, pretty cool pic of a dock or something. It is the only pics I have seen from anyone other than D.V or W.P. Those guys are good with their graphs!

Go to Set-up Tab in Master Menu (Hit Menu Button Twice) make sure you are in Advanced User Mode then go down to "Select Readout" then select one of the Readouts to Temp.

tamale, I am not sponsored nor do I have any affiliation with Humminbird. I just an average retired Joe that fishes because I like to. The screen shots I post are done as I am fishing and I do those as I see interesting stuff that may be of interest to others and show certain topics that are discussed occasionally. I don't try to get any particular results when I decide to take a screen shot. I just happen to notice what is on the screen and push the Mark button.
Some of the screen shots I post are from other owner's units that I have helped with the setup and operation and were done while fishing.
Being familiar with your equipment is all it takes.

Wayne is correct. He's Addicted to Side Scaning Sonar and Humminbird - he does not get promotion help from Humminbird in any way shape or form that I know of. Wayne I tahnk you for giving your time to help other! I appreciate it and sure Humminbird does too! I know the other owners do.

Yes I do but I use the exact same product you can buy off the shelf. If your not getting images like we and many others post you either have settings or installation issue. The only way to help is start a New Topic here and share your installation images and screen captures you are getting with the settings you are running. I'm here to help but you have to give me something to work with I don't have ESP to see what's happening but I can look at images and make suggestion to where your unit or settings are not setup correctly. I've had some owners send me a video clip of operation. So I can see how they are driving and the unit. If you want help I'm here to help.

This has probably been covered before, but I can't find it. How do I convert my Lowrance waypoints to HB. I used Babel and it said I had made the conversion, but my 788ci si doesn't show any waypoints when I put the SD disk in. Is there something I am doing wrong? It reads the Navionics disc, so I figure the card reader is OK. Any ideas? Thanks

I've recently purchased a 385ci di to mount on my pond prowler. While humminbird has provided an excellent control head mounting system...it does not work for my use. I remove both the trolling motor and control head and store the boat outside under cover. Is there anyone who builds pigtails for both the tranducer and the power so I can leave them connected as intended by the mount design?
