Thanks Wayne! I switched hub ports last night. It got too late so I'll give it a try this evening. No cards in the bow unit & a brand new cable & dongle adapter. On #4, can the cable direction actually affect the signal? Not questioning your knowledge, just trying to learn.

No, just the fit may be better in the opposite direction and lets you check the cable twice for a defect.

While you are at it and if the cable is long enough, use it between the Ethernet Switch and other unit to verify its function.

Will do & thanks again! I'll try to check the ethernet cable off of the console unit to the hub also. If my thinking is correct, a fault with the ethernet cable from the console unit to the hub could also cause this issue also couldn't it, since that's the link to the transducer for the bow unit?

Took the boat out yesterday and same thing for about 30 minutes like it has been doing. After a while of switching back from the map screen (probably 5-6 times of getting the SI signal lost message), it locks in and doesn't do it for the rest of the day.

I have an Onix on an old Sea Pro Center Console and everything works fine except I can't make a shoot thru the hull transducer work. Apparently something in the hull that interferes. What is the appropriate transom transducer? The Y cable that I have has a plug in type end for the 2D transducer.

I have an 1198c that will not read the depth, nor do I get a reading for my down scan. Side scan seems to work fine.
Water temp reading works, volts work basically everything except depth and down scan. I only have 1 transducer and I don't have anyone around me I can swap mine out for theirs to see if it's my unit.

This is the first time i've had the boat out this season. The unit worked just fine last fall. Suggestions?

Thank you Lord for the gifts in my life

My bow ONIX 10 SI suddenly will not boot up completely. It was working fine last week. The initial startup seems fine, but the CONFIRM button never comes up and the scrolling indicator light finally times out and the screen goes blank. Any suggestions before I have to send it to HB? THX

Have you checked the battery and make sure connections are all still good? Do you have another Onix you can switch with at the console?

I see a Helix 7 chartplotter on Universal Mania for $295. I have a Helix 12 networked with a 998c. What would I need to network the three and could I utilize the same puck my Helix uses or would it have to have its own puck? My 998 is at the bow with its own puck.

If that Helix 7 is not the G2N version, it is not networkable with any connection.

The GPS versions of all Helix models have internal GPS antennas.

All three Helix 7 G2N models will support a direct connected GPS external GPS antenna.
The first generation and G2 Helix 7 GPS models can only have an external GPS antenna connected via spliced Y cable to provide power.

IF that unit is a G2N, you can connect it to the other two units via the AS ETH 5PXG Ethernet switch.
Each device would directly connect to the switch via Ethernet cable. Would need the AS ED QDE Ethernet adapter just like you did with whichever the 6 models of Helix 12 you have.

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3,
Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

There have been several threads about TM interference on bow mount 'birds. I had that problem as well.. irritating to say the least. There were multiple things offerec as possible solutions and I tried several with not much results. I separated the TM power cable from the transducer cable.. I had them cable tied together and that helped some. But what ultimately fixed it for me is I covered the Finder power cable with braided copper shield wire and terminated one end to the ground connections of the Finder power. Its a pain in the butt to push the Finder power cable through the braid but it took care of the problem. Humminbird should consider providing shielded power cable for their units.. In my case, my power cable is about 4' long. so it only took about 30 minutes to push the wire through.. if I had to do one that was the whole length of the cable, I would probably use some kind of messenger or fish tape to go through the braid and then attach the power cable to it and pull it back through the braid. I'm pretty sure you can get braid cable at Mouser.com I got mine at an Estate sale of a Ham Radio operator. Hope this helps somebody!

I have a helix 7 DI/GPS unit, the other day we had a pretty heavy rainstorm blow through, the next morning I took my boat out and noticed there was a little water behind the screen protector and the unit would not turn on. I then unplugged and removed the unit to find it had taken on more than a couple drops of water. Will my warranty cover this or is there a repair/replacement program? Or am I S.O.L.?
