North Texas Marine claims Skeeter and Triton has merged, I have had a Triton since 04 and NO Problems..Tough Boat , I understand that the People left Skeeter to start Triton but don't know that for a fact.

I really don't know what brand at this time but I will be looking @ bassboats in the 10 to 20 year old range in about a year and what ever it is will be showroom new, 20 foot or better. I like Bullets, Skeeters, Champions, Rangers, Bass Cats,Blazers, Xpress, and last and least Nitro. I have owned a Nitro and they are awesome boats and arguably the best riding boat I have ever been fishing in. The resale value sux........or it did when I owned one. Bullet is my absolute favorite......I like me some speed....

I'm surprised Ranger is on top of the bay boat poll. I am on the water every day and I just about never see them. I know Ranger makes a good boat, I just never see any of their bay boats on the water.

Well my next boat purchase doesn't fit on either list ... an older flybridge-type boat from 25' to 30' with bunks, air conditioned cabin, enclosed head and all those other creature comforts that the family wants in order to head offshore.

Maybe I can change my name to 'Quint' when this happens lol

I won't buy a new boat until the manufactures come back to reality. These are not homes or condo's we are buying, its just a boat. I will not pay 80,000 for a new boat, they are not lined with real gold and silver. I can't afford it anyway but if I could I still would not pay that much for a boat. If everyone else would stop buying them then maybe they would pull their heads out of their livewells and make it where we could afford them and enjoy the sport that much more.

I will never have bigger than an 18.6 footer with a 150HP. I'm on my third one now, and have never paid more that $13K for them. They've all been used of course. Cheaper on gas, can go places the big boys can't go, don't have a need to go 70+ MPH, and I know this is wrong, but it's fun to beat guys in tourneys in $50,000 boats. Those guys dont' like comments like: "Did you get that big motor so you could be the first one back to the boat ramp on days like today when you don't have any fish to weigh".

If/when I get rid of my champ, i'm going to a bay boat. 21-22' NauticStar to be exact, less upkeep, more fisherman friendly,25-35k cheaper depending on model, aluminum trailer, better layout for different types of fishing, carry more people, gets in skinner water if need be and can get in some really rough water if caught out in it,and the fit and finish on these boat can rival some of the best bassboats, and the thing I like...no carpet but it comes with a highpressure wash down system, course there are cons to it also, but I believe the advantages out weight them. Besides I'm old now don't need to go 70mph to the next hole

I don't know that I will ever be able to afford a new boat. But if I did:

ProGator 200v in Dallas Cowboy colors tricked out with every feature that ProGator offers.
Might consider the new 210, but the 200v is plenty of boat for me.

It would be my 3rd progator.

Would depend on money situation. I owned a 92 champion and now have a 1999 Triton TR21. Nephew has a very nice Ranger. I have owned a 1977 Ranger and a 1984 Phantom. The Champion rides much better in rough water than any of them. If they were still being made in Mountain Home, That would be my next boat. As far as new boats go, I like the Legend most of all.

I've had nothing but Rangers, so I guess I would get another one. But since my last boat was custom ordered, I can't see myself buying one any time soon.

If money permits than a skeeter if I'm on a budget but still want a fully decked out top of the boat than a new Nitro. I've fished from both and both are great boats.

Money no object, probably a Legend..... I really like the early 90's Cobra's though. Maybe an upgrade on one, or not. Will probably be a Bug Boat from the BIL because of money issues. To many kids and colleges on the pay roll right now.

I think I would look seriously at an Ellis Down East...timeless in design. Now, the for big decision...which one should I have built?

I bought my Z9 Earlier this year and I LOVE IT! 70+ and It takes waves like a champ. I've had it on plane with it white capping everywhere and never missed a beat. Smooth ride. I'm glad I went with a Nitro again.

I believe that Ranger, Triton, Stratos and Champion are all under the same corporate ownership now, or at least thats what I've been told by field rep's at boat shows.
I guess its comes down to how much money a individual wants to spend or what you consider a reasoniable price for your purchase doesnt matter what brand A thru Z.
It's your money spend what makes you happy.....

sails are a cheaper alternative when fuel is so expensive, i don't mean high cost hitech sails. but as frosty points out there a lot of situations where sail is not an option. here where i live we have reliable wind and sailing is popular, yachts go everywhere i go with my power boat i just do it quicker but it costs me at the bowser, i am paying $1.72 aud a liter for unleaded.

I will prefer to buy "Ranger" because it looks pretty attractive and I believe it is better than others because one of my friend bought "Ranger" he is using it for last 3 years and very satisfied with it.

Nitro z9, hands down over Skeeter,Ranger and many others. Super large front deck, storeage, rough water ride and fantastic build quaility all for less money.
