Have 4 kids (2 r special needs but love fishing) ..... would like to locate some fishing areas. We are in NW Houston (290/hwy 6 area). Researching Tom Bass and some other area but wanna know what regs on here know about freshwater fishing here in Houston area. We are mainly bass, crappy, cat fishers....Lure or live. Any tips for locals and baitshops would be so helpful!

welcome

You can go to La Centerra in Katy. Here's some pics of my son's catches: http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbt...tri#Post6138587

There's also Mary Jo Peckham Park in Katy, but its mainly stocked with catfish (use sliced hot dogs for bait).

Click on my sig too, Texas Google Bank Fishing Map.

I think fishing at any park recognized by TP&WD allows anyone to fish without a license.

Anywhere else, adults need a license but children dont.

But you should keep yourself informed as well:

AdanV, it is only at Texas State Parks that you can fish w/o a license.

Other than that AdanV has given you some great information!
