Anyone know of some good ponds in the Amarillo area?

Have you tried Southeast park in Canyon? I go there, Southeast park in Amarillo (big bass but limited shore access) and Medipark (north lake is loaded with sunnies). I know Thompson park is stocked with bass but theres too many crackheads there for me. Last weekend I did go to a pond behind that new YMCA on Hillside and caught a couple bass and a sunny in half an hour. Don't know how they got there but you could see bass jumping all over.

I have caught a few crappie and bullhead behind the new YMCA. No luck at the Canyon Park, but have seen some large dead cats. Medipark is over fished, and I have never had luck at Southeast or Thompson. There are several ponds behind the Y, but I have only tried the one nearest the ball fields.

Yeah, I saw the larger ponds behind the Y on Google Earth. Tomoroow morning I plan on doing some exploring and maybe fish if it's not stupid windy. Speaking of Medipark, I don't like catfish, but if you use ultralight takle at the North lake (smaller one) you can catch twenty or thirty sunfish in a couple hours, and some of them are pretty chunky.

I was thinking of checking out the pond adjacent to the storage sheds in the morning. The small gate was open there today. There is also access off of Steve's Way I believe.

I couldn't tell if it was fenced or not. Are you sure its not private? If you see an ugly yellow Dodge Rampage, that'll be me!

Yeah, the business park one. I just hope it's not too windy.

I'm in Amarillo this week. Any updates on a spot to catch a few large sunnies or bass?
