Depends - I have two set ups for where and how I like to throw them.

One rig is a 7'10" Skeete Reese rod with a BPS pro-qualifier 5:3:1 with 12lb flouro. I usually use this set up in open water around bluff or just steep drops.

other rig is a 7'0' MH all-star with a 6:3:1 Curado, lined up with 20lb power pro - I use this set up to "worm" dd22s through thick bush, rock piles or cover.

I have never caught a fish on a DD22 but I own plenty. I am starting to think it is a big joke! I thought I would get to catch one on them last August at Falcon but they were in the brush due to the flood.

Love the DD22! My set-up is a Kistler 6'9" Carbon Steel rod with Curadoe 200E5. I haven't caught a lot of fish on it, but, I have fun when I do!

Probaby haven't caught one yet because with the levels these local S.A. lakes are getting to you have to travel to throw one!

I have to admit I've never understood the allure of the DD22's. I just don't feel the bottom very well with those cranks. Now, get me a bomber fat free shad in the XL size and man, that crank gives me terrific feel and I've got confidence in those cranks.

I know I gotta be missing something by not throwing DD22s more but it's just a little hard to do that when those things don't really "talk" to me that well.

Good question on the colors. Is the sexy shad the "best one"?
