Its nice to see some folks getting away from the heat. This is definitely the time of the year to get away and have a little taste of the north. Everything is cooperating, here are few images from the last couple of weeks.

Catfish and carp fell for my damselfly nymph and glo-bug(see inside carp's mouth)...

Smallmouth bass are going crazy for the old clouser...

Trout, are hitting my cranefly and caddis fly. All dry fly fishing so far this month. Its simply awesome.

I'm going to try to get some pure cutts and beautiful brookies in the next few days. If I can only get myself motivated to take my yak to the nearby reservoir, I'd go after some pike. I got some flies ready at least, I hope.

Wishing everyone a great summer. Carry on.

What Clear Cure Goo said...

And I have to ask, what camera are you carrying on the stream to take those photos with?

Olympus Tough 8000. A simple point and shoot camera. It is waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof though. A klutz like me need all that. grin

Thanks.

Thank you TonkawaTrout and Tx Archeo.

As far as selling my flies, I've never done such a thing ever. I'm just a passionate amateur. If you guys haven't seen kelkay's "latest flies you have been working on?" thread in the fly tying section, please check it out. I've posted a few flies there. You'll also see some nice work from some other posters there as well. Seeing both your post count, I welcome you both to the forum. Now, tie us something and post a pic of your latest flyfishing adventure, we'd love to see it.

Great photos and fish. I particularly liked the crane fly and damsel fly.

Thanks kelkay and SBridges. Summer is indeed nicer weatherwise up here but yet I hear locals bitch about how hot it is when its only 85 freaking degrees high and cools down to nice 55 at night. rolleyes

Couple more brown trout from last night, again with the caddis dry fly I posted above. I did see that one monster brown I've been hunting for the last year and glad that its still around. It will be an epic catch if I ever catch the darn thing. Oh the fun of this madness.

More summer fun on a hopper. Yes, they were lippin hoppers like trout. It doesn't get any better than that for me when it comes to carp fishing.

Couple of pics of one of several landed from yesterday....

I didn't realize you were in grizzly country! I hope you carry a side arm or at least pepper spray when you're out fishing. All my hunting magazines have been talking about the increased number of attacks in the lower 48 as the grizzlies are becoming more abundant. Wouldn't want to see anything happen to you.

Even with a side arm and pepper spray....hmmm....attacking grizzly.....I may survive for 10 sec. Simple rule, make noice while hiking and if you see one, slowly move away. To be honest, the biggest creature I see all the time are bambis. I've tracked a few mountain lion though. Beautiful country.
